[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1494402] [NEW] WebKitWebProcess WebKitGtk+ 2.4.8 uses memory without end when visiting some LinkedIn URL

2015-09-10 Thread Andres Gomez (Tanty)
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.10 with GNOME3 PPA.

I launch Web, GNOME's default browser and I log in into my LinkedIn
profile.

Then, from the top bar I place my pointer over the "Connections" menu so it is
expanded, once expanded, I click on the "See all" link:
https://www.linkedin.com/people/pymk/hub?ref=global-nav&trk=nav_utilities_invites_header

Upon doing so, the browser freezes and I notice the HD of my computer
starting to work hard. After checking with "top" the WebKitWebProcess is
growing its used memory by the Gbs!!! and it doesn't seem to stop.

This may not be a problem in WKGTK+ but the graphics driver since, after
repeating the process with a GDB attached to the WebKitWebProcess, GDB states
that the point in which it exits when manually killing the process is:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/i965_dri.so

However, I cannot reproduce with Chromium, FF (of course, the code path
is completely different).

** Affects: mesa (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Package changed: nautilus-sendto (Ubuntu) => mesa (Ubuntu)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1400730] Re: libxext fills up .xsession-errors log files

2015-01-07 Thread Andres Gomez (Tanty)
I'm suffering the same problem and I've applied the suggested upstream patch in
my personal PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~tanty/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+packages

However, I don't think this is a proper fix for the problem I'm
observing.

When the problem was happening and tons of

error is "_xgeWireToEvent: Unknown extension 148, this should never
happen"

messages were spitted, everything was going much slower in the affected
application.

With the fix, the application now is mute about this problem but it is still
clearly slower. Hence, the error is still happening it is just that we are not
seeing the error messages any more.

Is this error a regression in libXext ?

In my case, I'm specially seeing it in a custom compilation of epiphany,
the GNOME Browser, from upstream. It seems to be affecting webkitgtk+
...

I've just upgraded from Trusty and I was not suffering this problem
before with the same custom compilation of epiphany.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1169694] Re: evolution crashes with GSlice: assertion failed: sinfo->n_allocated > 0

2013-11-05 Thread Andres Gomez
Same experience than in comment #11. After removing the evolution-
indicator, the problem is not reproducible at the same rate.

Evolution keeps crashing but not that often, as it always has :(

I think this report should be moved to the "evolution-indicator" plugin
if this behavior is consistent.

Title:
EOG crash - Aborted (core dumped)

Status in Cairo Graphics Library:
  New
Status in “cairo” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
Many times I try to watch large jpg images, my eog crashes. I started
it in terminal and it seems the exit message is "Aborted (core
  dumped)".

The images are 5-6-7 MB and I am forced to see them in Shotwell
because eog is impossible to use. I have no idea what the first line
means, but it is always there when I start eog.

Title:
  Evolution crashes almost randomly

Status in “evolution” package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: evolution

Filling this bug report in order to provide additional informaions, as
requested in #579928.
  As already reported:

I think this should be considered a major: never experienced such a disaster
with Evolution, and I'm using it from two years ago. Evolution just keeps
crashing randomly: it can happen while editing a message or simply by itself,
not necessarily while sending/receiving messages, but often while (apparently)
doing absolutely nothing. The program just closes silently, without any kind of
warning, eventually it recovers uncompleted messages at next restart, but it
continues with it's strange behavior.
I hope this can be fixed quickly, because e-mailing is a quite fundamental
activity.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 973295] Re: Enable grilo plugin

2013-01-23 Thread Andres Gomez
This is yet not fixed in Quantal and it seems is neither fixed yet in
Raring.

Also, the same problem seems to happen for Totem:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/1035701

In here there are instructions for installing through PPA in Precise:
http://bernaerts.dyndns.org/linux/240-ubuntu-precise-upnp-dlna-client

Title:
  Enable grilo plugin

Status in “rhythmbox” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
At the moment grilo plugin is not being built thus leaving Jamendo and
UPnP out of rhythmbox. This is only a packaging issue and can be
  easily fixed:

  debian/control:
- Add libgrilo-0.1-dev to Build-Depends
- Add gir1.2-grilo-0.1 to Depends on rhythmbox-plugins (or create a new
package)

debian/rhythmbox-plugins.install (or specific to a new package)
- Add usr/lib/rhythmbox/plugins/grilo

All grilo packages are now in Universe so this may not be done that
  easily though.

grilo plugins should be enabled in Totem

Status in “totem” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
I see no good reason why they're not. For the most part they all work, any
that don't are a grilo bug, (like vimeo), & shouldn't affect being enabled.
If sticking with 3.4.3/gstreamer .10/grilo 0.1 (0.1.2 is available) it would
seem straightforward to enable & have installed
(inc. it in totem-plugins here in a test rebuild

If moving to totem 3.4.4+/gstreamer1.0/grilo 0.2 then have tested that
here, works ok though ATM not as good as 0.1 , though again any grilo
  issies are grilo bugs

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 842513] Re: nautilus-sendto crashes with "double free or corruption"

2011-12-04 Thread Andres Gomez
Unfortunately, now the crash is different and maybe related to a race
condition (?).

The problem seems to happen in 2 of the nautilus-sendto plugins:
libnstbluetooth.so and libnstevolution.so.

What I've done was removing the rest of the plugins and just running
valgrind and gdb with each of those 2 plugins.

libnstevolution.so :

Valgrind:

The problem is not reproducible. I will attach the log.
