[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1370407] [NEW] pulseaudio should be compiled by default with noice cancelling and echo reduction

2014-09-17 Thread AndresClari
Public bug reported:

In other OSs either the system itself or the sound drivers provide
settings to enable noise reduction and echo cancellation. However in
pulseaudio it has to be manually compiled in.

It's a feature that should be a standard, and don't come with such a
pain to enable, as I believe it would of very useful to provide by
default.

To implement this a dependency to Webrtc library should be added, as
well as a couple of configuration lines:

In debian/rules file, go to ~line 57 and add "--enable-webrtc-aec" to
DEB_CONFIGURE_EXTRA_FLAGS (say after the --disable-hal-compat option)

In debian/pulseaudio.install file and add: usr/lib/pulse-*/modules
/libwebrtc-util.so

Enable webrtc plugin in /etc/pulse/default.pa: sudo gedit /etc/pulse/default.pa
### Load echo cancellation module
load-module module-echo-cancel source_name=echosource aec_method=webrtc
set-default-source echosource

** Affects: pulseaudio (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Tags: canceling echo noise reduction

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 872207] Re: When Firefox is running in Unity, drop-down menus sometime close when opened

2011-12-03 Thread AndresClari
I've always had this problem on fresh installs. I'm have a bad habit of
testing new distros every now and then ;) And for the last few releases
of Ubuntu fresh, always the same problem. Thing is that is very random
sometimes after a reboot it will work for a while, then start
disappearing and so on. Probably more of a Compiz issue than Unity tho.

This is something which used to happen regularly though not always (I
switched to using fallback mode for a while because of it).
Basically, drop-down menus in Firefox such as RSS feeds (or in Natty
without the global menu the normal application menus were affected
too) are simply not shown when clicked on. Context menus also fail to
appear. This often disappeared for no apparent reason after I had
used Firefox for a while. I haven't seen it for a while, but it has
just re-appeared, possibly because I started Unity as "unity
--replace" since I am currently testing an application's behaviour
  with different window managers.

I'm sorry if this information is a bit threadbare. Please let me know

2011-11-07 Thread AndresClari
I'm noticing this behavior after removing the repos Flash and manually
installing 64 bit Flash 11 from adobe's tar file. Also I'm forcing the
hardware acceleration on Flash itself. Looks like the flash window might
by causing issues with the context menu window.
