[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1827702] Re: Upgrade 18.10->19.04, fail to boot
Don't know how xorg got selected - pretty sure the problem is with grub or with the kernel, and seeing as the 4.19.20 kernel used to work, I'm guessing it's grub ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => grub (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1827702 Title: Upgrade 18.10->19.04, fail to boot Status in grub package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I was using kernel 4.19.20 with ubuntu 18.10 and it was working fine. Upgraded to 19.04 and it now boots approximately one attempt every 5. Doesn't depend on the kernel I choose (I have both 4.19.20 and 5.0.0 installed). If I use the default Ubuntu boot entry, I get a black screen (when normally it would prompt for the disk decryption password). If I go to advanced options and choose a kernel (doesn't matter which one or whether it's recovery mode or not) then I get "Loading linux ..." "Loading initial ramdisk ..." then nothing. Ctrl-alt-del doesn't work, power key needs holding for 10s to turn off. I've followed the steps to get it to print more output (gfxmode text, remove quiet, splash, vt options) but it doesn't give any more debug. I don't know if the problem is in grub or in the kernel. It's really odd that it works sometimes - I haven't spotted a pattern to that yet. I've attached a video of the boot process (I'd added an extra line to the grub script to make it print "Booting..." after loading the initial ramdisk, but that doesn't make a difference to whether it works or not). Sorry about the focus - phone cameras don't like big blank spaces. Happy to try more debug options, but have limited time so might not be quick to respond. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1316873] Re: Left mouse button stops working
The mouse works well on 12.04. After upgrade to 14.04, it start to have this same problem. It still exist after upgrade to 16.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1316873 Title: Left mouse button stops working Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: This problem has plagued me for a few years across different laptops and Ubuntu versions. Current I am experiencing this on a Dell Inspiron 15z running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. It typically starts after I have used the chat or call feature in gmail, by clicking on the phone icon in the left chat margin. I am a Firefox user and have not tested this with chrome etc. It has not happened if i dont install google-talkplugin so it is quite possible that the plugin is to blame. Symptom === The left mouse button on all attached mice - USB , Trackpad and touch - will not do anything however the right mouse button continues to work. This happens to all applications and also to the desktop. The keyboard continues to function as normal. When this occurs , my solution is to Alt-F4 close all windows and log out of the X session. When I re-login the left mouse button works as normal. This is an irritant and work disruptor as I have to save all browser and desktop applications to safe state before I logout to reset the mouse. I will appreciate any soltion or workaround. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1007320] Re: some keyboard shortcuts in menus are incorrect
Ah, in this configuration menu you could switch between LibreOffice and writer shortcuts. Then you can see, that CTRL+H is allocated global for LibreOffice with find&replace and local for writer for superscript (only German). Perhaps keys which are allocated globally by LibreOffice shouldn't be allocable by any component like writer or calc (lock those entries in the corresponding menus). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1007320 Title: some keyboard shortcuts in menus are incorrect Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: This might only be a problem of the German translation: Some keyboard shortcuts in Writer (e.g., Control-H) have a different function than indicated in the menus (indicated: search/replace; function: superscript). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1007320] Re: some keyboard shortcuts in menus are incorrect
Seems this key is allocated twice. German: CTRL+H -> Superscript (from Hochstellen) CTRL+T -> Subscript (from Tiefstellen) General CTRL+SHIFT+P -> Superscript CTRL+SHIFT+B -> Subscript For German both variants work. With German localization in writer take a look at Tools, Customize, Keyboard, Shortcuts, Control H. There you will have an allocation for superscript. In the English version this key isn't allocated in this menu. Quick fix: Delete the Control H shortcut from the menu and find&replace will work. Maybe there are many more double allocated key bindings (with other localizations too)...
