sorry for spamming. I am ready for bisecting. :)
I did this:
git checkout -b mybisect origin/master

git bisect start Ubuntu-3.8.0-26.38 Ubuntu-3.8.0-0.1
and got this:
warning: refname 'Ubuntu-3.8.0-0.1' is ambiguous.

Cable Ethernet conn. "die" with Atheros Network Card in Ubuntu 13.04

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in Fedora:
  Unknown
Status in openSUSE:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
In New Ubuntu 13.04 the network connections crash on 13.04 in cable Ethernet
connection.
The connection works for about 2-3 minutes, and after "die".
Unplug/plug the cable sometimes helps to re-work the connection manager.

I suppose the problem in the Atheros drivers
In Ubuntu 12.10 the network works perfectly.
The bug is confermed by many other users.

The problem seems to be more present when using static IP (type of
  network configuration : manual)

WIFI works perfectly (Card is Atheros too)

My network Ethernet card is ATHEROS AR8152

  command : lshw -C network

  -network

When using unity or a Ubuntu classic session with compiz, there are
  spurious [drm:i915_hangcheck_ring_idle] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer
elapsed... blt ring idle [waiting on 9004, at 9004], missed IRQ?
visible in dmesg. The display stops updating for a fraction of a
second when it happens. This can be forcibly reproduced by doing
vblank_mode=0 glxgears with compiz active and it is specific to
sandybridge systems. Disabling sync to vblank in compiz doesn't have
any effect, and the problem does not happen when using metacity.

The hangcheck messages are gone in 2.6.39-rc3 kernel, but the root
problem still remains in that the display updates erratically when it
  happens.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 761065] Re: [Sandybridge] Spurious "*ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... blt ring idle" messages in dmesg when using compiz

2013-06-18 Thread Arie Skliarouk
On Lenovo g570 ubuntu 12.10 worked perfectly.

After upgrade to 13.04 X-Windows started locking up (only the mouse
cursor was reacting to mouse movements, but nothing else). The lockup
occurs after couple of minutes working in gnome-classic-fallback window
manager, no 3D activity was done at the time (at least intentionally).
The X lockup is accompanied by messages like these in dmesg (every
second or so):

[ 533.963858] [drm:i915_hangcheck_ring_idle] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer
elapsed... render ring idle [waiting on 25899, at 25898], missed IRQ?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1072148] Re: Segfault on SiS 65x/M650/740 card

2012-11-13 Thread Arie Skliarouk
During my experiments with kernel 3.2.0, the xorg also crashed. I had to
disable X11 acceleration for 3.2.0 kernel to work.
Same story with kernel 3.5.0. This means that I erred on comment #2 where I
claimed that simple reversal to 3.2.0 fixed the problem. Apparently I forgot to
mention that somewhere inbetween I disabled X11 acceleration.

For what it worth, I tested the 3.7.0-030700rc2-generic kernel and found
that it behaves the same way as the 3.2.0 and 3.5.0 kernels - e.g. there
is no difference between them (from the bug's perspective).

Before upgrade to ubuntu 12.10, both kernel (3.0.0 I guess) and
X11+acceleration worked properly.

I will update the bug's title to represent the fact.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1073876] Re: 1680x1050 resolution has wrong clock value?

2012-11-08 Thread Arie Skliarouk
Looks like the bug is related to FB modesetting done by linux-
image-3.5.0-18-generic kernel. I rebooted into 3.2.0-30-generic and the
resolution became correct.

Reassign the bug the the linux-image kernel package please.

After upgrade to 12.10, the resolution appears chopped on the right, I
can't see about 300 pixels. While tweaking monitor's OSD settings I
found setting "Clock" that was at 50. When reduced to 0, I gained
about 150 more pixels, but the rest of the pixels are still not
  visible.

After upgrade to 12.10, the resolution appears chopped on the right, I
can't see about 300 pixels. While tweaking monitor's OSD settings I
found setting "Clock" that was at 50. When reduced to 0, I gained
about 150 more pixels, but the rest of the pixels are still not
  visible.

  Incomplete

Bug description:
Open a document, Format->Page->Paper format, select different paper format

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 531173] Re: New Lucid keyboard layout indicator does not indicate current layout

2011-10-25 Thread Arie Skliarouk
Recently upgraded 11.04 to 10.04. The user prefers to stay with gnome-classic
instead of Unity.
The keyboard applet in gnome-classic does not show the current layout, just as
described in the bug's description.

New Lucid keyboard layout indicator does not indicate current layout

Status in Gnome Settings Daemon:
  Unknown
Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” source package in Lucid:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon

After the Lucid update today, the keyboard layout indicator has moved
from the notification area (system tray) to the "indicator applet",
and now no longer shows which layout is currently selected - it only
shows an icon of a keyboard.

By clicking on the icon and selected "Groups" I can see (and change)
the currently used layout, but its very not visible.

The new layout indicator also relates or obsoletes bug #513152 and bug
  #519372.

Sorry, in my previous post I meant upgraded 11.04 to 11.10. Pity the
comments can't be edited...
