[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1767431] Re: restore type-ahead find, again
Issue has a patch, so wondering: What are the decision criteria for bringing the patch into 18.04, perhaps backports? Does it have to happen upstream (through persuasion of Gnome devs)? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1767431 Title: restore type-ahead find, again Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The dropping of the type-ahead find patch in 17.10 might deeply affect non-technical users, as pointed out, this is possibly a bad HCI design. As there is a patch exists from the Arch community[1], and the at least some people managed to patch it in 17.10[2], might it be possible to add such patch back before 18.04.1 so that it won't affect people upgraded from 16.04? [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1241573] Re: thunderbird crashed with SIGSEGV
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1236351 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1236351 I have tried debugging. My traceback from thunderbird --debug is pretty useless, so this is my experience + a seemingly fine workaround. I'm under the impression that the rest of the Thunderbird community does not experience this issues since there's no talk of it. However, since switching to 13.10 I've had segmentation faults CONSTANTLY. I'm using gnome-shell btw. I can mention at least 3 different things that have a 50-100% chance of crashing Thunderbird. I tried disabling all extensions, no luck. I tried also to disble all plugins systematically. Finally, I found the culprit. So my solution/workaround is: Tools - Add-ons - Plugins - Gnome Shell Integration - DISABLE After this, I haven't seen the usual crashes, only a few Program received signal SIGPIPE, Broken pipe. which seem to not kill the mail process. Can other reporters perhaps state if they are seeing an improvement from disabling the Gnome Shell Integration? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to thunderbird in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241573 Title: thunderbird crashed with SIGSEGV Status in “thunderbird” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Up-to-date 13.10 install ProblemType: Crash DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: thunderbird 1:24.0+build1-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-12.19-generic 3.11.3 Uname: Linux 3.11.0-12-generic i686 AddonCompatCheckDisabled: False ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2 Architecture: i386 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: jane 2099 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC1: jane 2099 F pulseaudio BrokenPermissions: extensions/{bde451f9-0fcb-2fcf-3b9b-626f1f37d6e5}/icon.png (0o400) extensions/{bde451f9-0fcb-2fcf-3b9b-626f1f37d6e5}/install.rdf (0o400) extensions/{bde451f9-0fcb-2fcf-3b9b-626f1f37d6e5}/preview.png (0o400) BuildID: 20130917155400 Channel: Unavailable Date: Fri Oct 18 14:06:58 2013 ExecutablePath: /usr/lib/thunderbird/thunderbird ForcedLayersAccel: False IfupdownConfig: auto lo iface lo inet loopback InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-06-18 (486 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin - Release i386 (20120423) IpRoute: default via 10.20.64.1 dev eth0 proto static 10.20.64.0/21 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 10.20.66.173 metric 1 10.20.64.0/21 dev wlan0 proto kernel scope link src 10.20.66.147 metric 9 MarkForUpload: True PrefSources: prefs.js user.js [Profile]/extensions/{CC3C233D-6668-41bc-AAEB-F3A1D1D594F5}/defaults/preferences/mailredirect.js [Profile]/extensions/{847b3a00-7ab1-11d4-8f02-006008948af5}/defaults/preferences/enigmail.js [Profile]/extensions/{a62ef8ec-5fdc-40c2-873c-223b8a6925cc}/defaults/preferences/preferences.js ProcCmdline: /usr/lib/thunderbird/thunderbird ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_GB:en PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=set LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash Profiles: Profile0 (Default) - LastVersion=24.0/20130917155400 (In use) RelatedPackageVersions: google-talkplugin 4.7.0.0-1 adobe-flashplugin 11.2.202.310-0raring1 totem-mozilla 3.8.2-0ubuntu1 rhythmbox-mozilla 2.99.1-0ubuntu1 RunningIncompatibleAddons: False Signal: 11 SourcePackage: thunderbird StacktraceTop: ?? [Desktop-packages] [Bug 951585] Re: gvfsd-afp consumes 100% of processor cycles
Just adding a curious note, that I'm experiencing the same as Ilya Flyamer connecting to a Synology NAS' SMB share. But actually, I'm even on a network now where the Synology is not available. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/951585 Title: gvfsd-afp consumes 100% of processor cycles Status in “gvfs” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Happens on an irregular basis on 12.04 and I think I've experienced it on 11.10. For no reason gvfsd-afp starts up. Cooling fan kicks in, system becomes laggy. Easily cured using system monitor and killing the process. Someone on the Ubuntu Forum asked if I have a Mac on the network and the answer is yes, an iMac and there are shares on that machine I can access. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1031449] Re: rhythmbox leaking memory
Dear package maintainers -- please be our heroes and fix this :) Memory leaks were fixed in Rhythmbox 2.97 and 2.98 as noted in #976534. I'm currently running RB 2.97 from ubuntuupdates.org and it works without leaks. This was my result before: PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEMTIME+ COMMAND 28905 username 20 0 1978m 1.4g 15m S 39 35.4 33:44.59 rhythmbox This is my result using the webupd8team PPA: 10545 username 20 0 550m 103m 20m S4 2.6 52:17.58 rhythmbox As you can see, even after running for almost twice as long, it uses only 2.6% memory, and before it was sipping some 35%. The following upstream report mentions a lot of commits with memory leak fixes -- perhaps they could be targeted for backporting. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=677738 ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #677738 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=677738 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1031449 Title: rhythmbox leaking memory Status in The Rhythmbox Music Management Application: New Status in Ubuntu on the Nexus 7: Invalid Status in “rhythmbox” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “rhythmbox” source package in Quantal: Confirmed Bug description: Memory usage : 10.9% and constantly increasing (that's over 400 MB on my system with 4 GB) Playing a playlist of MP3 files.
