[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1871794] Re: [Bluetooth] No audio output/input in HSP/HFP mode

2020-10-28 Thread Benny Prange
@Hui Wang

After I powered off the machine instead of a reboot, the HSP/HFP mode is
now working.

However there are two things to note, that might be related to this
problem:

1. In the sound settings menu (I'm using Linux Mint Ulyana) I cannot play a
test sound in HSP/HFP mode, only in A2DP mode.
2. The sound quality is significantly worse when using HSP/HFP. It really
sounds like using a telephone / landline connection. As soon as I switch to
A2DP, the sound ist normal again.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1871794] Re: [Bluetooth] No audio output/input in HSP/HFP mode

2020-10-28 Thread Benny Prange
@Marco and Hui Wang

My Dell Latitude 5411 also contains an Intel BT Module 8087:0026. I can
also reproduce the problem with my Sony WH-CH700N headphones. A2DP is
fine, HSP/HFP is broken.

I also tried Marco's fix and copied the newer firmware
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/1.190) for
ibt-19-0-4, but just like Hui Wang the problem still exists. I can also
confirm the hciconfig behaviour, every time I switch to HSP/HFP, the TX
sco counter increases by one, but the RX sco counter stays at 0.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 152279] Re: Totem gets aspect ratio wrong

2015-03-02 Thread Benny Sperisen
This bug is also present in Ubuntu 14.10, for me. I have dual monitors
with an NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT, the binary NVIDIA driver version
331.113. Pretty unbelievable that this bug has lasted 8 years

  Totem gets aspect ratio wrong

Status in totem package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: totem

I use a pivot monitor. When I rotate the screen with xrandr -o left or
Grandr, totem gets the aspect ratio wrong. For instance a 4:3 film is
shown as 3:4, that means higher than wide. It is also not possible to
correct the aspect ratio from the GUI menu. New video thumbnails are
also distorted, however in the other direction: They become much wider
  than hig.

Kaffeine shows the same buggy behaviour as Totem, while VLC doesn't.
VLC gets the aspect ratio right. This bug was also not there in
  Feisty.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1277629] [NEW] Nautilus crashes when gnuplot outputs to file

2014-02-07 Thread Benny Sperisen
Public bug reported:

I have Ubuntu 13.10 with nautilus version 1:3.8.2-0ubuntu2.2 and gnuplot
candidate version 4.6.3-2.

Nautilus crashes when viewing a directory containing a file to which
gnuplot is sending output. To replicate, do the following:

1. Open Nautilus and go to some directory, e.g. ~/temp.
2. Start gnuplot. Enter the following command: set output ~/temp/blah.svg
3. I expect Nautilus to show the newly created file blah.svg, which it
briefly does. Then it crashes. It also crashes if you try to look at the folder
later after closing gnuplot.

I've attached the valgrind output of nautilus. On my system, it output
the following to the terminal:

Initializing nautilus-dropbox 1.4.0
sys:1: Warning: g_object_set: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
