[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1478364] [NEW] invalid session being saved
Public bug reported: When I log out of my desktop I get some files in ~/.config/gnome-session /saved-session/, pressumably the saving of my session so that it can be restored on next login. But on next login I get an error from gnome-session: env: unrecognized option '--sm-client-id' Try 'env --help' for more information. ... gnome-session[9609]: WARNING: Application 'gnome-panel.desktop' failed to register before timeout gnome-session[9609]: CRITICAL: We failed, but the fail whale is dead. Sorry and the session aborts. Investigation leads to the following: $ cat ~/.config/gnome-session/saved-session/gnome-panel.desktop [Desktop Entry] Type=Application Name=Panel Comment=Launch other applications and provide various utilities to manage windows, show the time, etc. Icon=gnome-panel Exec=env --sm-client-id 1037b9c00525f898c41437926147603637010179 XDG_MENU_PREFIX=gnome-flashback- gnome-panel Terminal=false X-GNOME-Bugzilla-Bugzilla=GNOME X-GNOME-Bugzilla-Product=gnome-panel X-GNOME-Bugzilla-Component=general X-GNOME-Bugzilla-Version=3.8.0 Categories=GNOME;GTK;System;Core; OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity; NoDisplay=true X-GNOME-AutoRestart=true X-GNOME-Autostart-Phase=Panel X-GNOME-Provides=panel X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=gnome-panel-3.0 X-GNOME-Autostart-startup-id=1037b9c00525f898c41437926147603637010179 Clearly the "env --sm-client-id" is causing this problem. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1478364] Re: invalid session being saved
As you will notice, upstream closed this bug OBSOLETE with the explanation: "Version 3.9 is an ancient unstable development version and not supported anymore by GNOME developers. GNOME developers are no longer working on that older version, so there will not be any bug fixes by GNOME developers for the version that you use." So looks like it's on you Ubuntu/Canonical to fix this as this is a bug in an LTS release. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1478364 Title: invalid session being saved Status in gnome-session: Unknown Status in gnome-session package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: When I log out of my desktop I get some files in ~/.config/gnome- session/saved-session/, pressumably the saving of my session so that it can be restored on next login. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 264691] Re: NM 0.7 No option for connecting to L2TP IPSEC VPN
But why have yet another application taking up yet more system tray space to do what NM should be doing itself? IMHO, a completely different application for managing only l2tp-ipsec VPNs when we already have a VPN managing application is the completely wrong approach. This ticket is about this functionality missing in NM, not about promoting yet another application to do what NM should be doing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/264691 Title: NM 0.7 No option for connecting to L2TP IPSEC VPN Status in NetworkManager: Confirmed Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: In Progress Status in “network-manager” package in Debian: Invalid Bug description: Binary package hint: network-manager Missing feature: You cannot connect to a (Microsoft) L2TP IPSEC VPN with Network Manager. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 886805] [NEW] Font size override doesn't work
Public bug reported: If I try to use Preferences->Mail Preferences->Message Fonts (with "Use the same fonts as other applications" unchecked of course) to override the general desktop font I can only only override the message display font and not the UI font. Meaning, I can change the selector, it just doesn't actually change any UI fonts. If I use gconf-editor to adjust /desktop/gnome/interface/font_name, the evolution UI follows those changes. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1094496] [NEW] gnome-keyring-daemon leaks memory
Public bug reported: gnome-keyring-daemon gets killed here every few days due to it's memory size exceeding the site imposed limit of 2GB per process. The ulimit of course is not the problem as even with an unlimited setting, it would just grow until it was killed by the OOM killer. The real problem here is that gnome-keyring-daemon has no business growing to even a fraction of the 2GB limit imposed here. 2G for a simple keyring daemon is absurd. Looking at the upstream changelog for versions beyond the 3.2.2 on which the Ubuntu version is based appear to have fixed memory leaks. Given that this leaking 3.2.2-2ubuntu4 version is in the Precise LTS release, upgrading to a newer Ubuntu release is not a solution nor an option -- this LTS release is supposed to be supported beyond 2017. A fix needs to be backported. Having gnome-keyring-daemon leaking for 5 more years is simply unacceptable. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1033904] Re: memory leak in gnome-keyring-daemon
Seriously. Are you folks really that bitter about this Mint thing? I know you know that Mint is nothing more than Ubuntu Linux with usable desktops (i.e. Cinnamon and MATE), for those people that find your tablet-izing Unity desktop simply unusable. Heck, Mint is not even a fork but simply a layer of packages on top of Ubuntu Linux -- really, no different than installing a bunch of packages out of a PPA. Do you simply refuse to support Ubuntu Linux packages simply because a PPA may have installed some unrelated packages? You can see clearly from the apport output that this report is for an "unmodified" gnome-keyring package straight out of your own repositories: Package: gnome-keyring 3.2.2-2ubuntu4 apt-cache validates this assertion also: $ apt-cache policy gnome-keyring gnome-keyring: Installed: 3.2.2-2ubuntu4 Candidate: 3.2.2-2ubuntu4 Version table: *** 3.2.2-2ubuntu4 0 500 http://apt.interlinx.bc.ca/ubuntu/ precise/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status So, are you really going to play this sour grapes game or are you going to do the right thing here? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1033904 Title: memory leak in gnome-keyring-daemon Status in “gnome-keyring” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: The gnome-keyring-daemon is leaking memory, quite badly. Really though, how is them "adding" a repository for their packages, layering on top of Ubuntu any different than adding a PPA anyway.
