[Desktop-packages] [Bug 989750] Re: repeatedly asks for encryption password when backing up, even though remember password is ticked

2014-11-18 Thread Christian Gonzalez
Same here. Backing up over samba share. Deja-Dup is completely
unuseable, using Ubuntu 14.10 and Arch Linux (Deja-Dup 32.0, duplicity
6.5 and 7.0).

Title:
repeatedly asks for encryption password when backing up, even though
  remember password is ticked

Status in “deja-dup” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I've set deja-dup to back up automatically, and to encrypt files. But it
never gets far: every few seconds, it brings up a password needed window
somewhere out of sight (behind other windows; but that is another
problem/feature), even though I've told it to remember the password.

So using this backup software seems entirely impractical; it will never
finish.

I connected to a FTP server via gvfs in Nautilus. After some time the
FTP connection is closed automatically, as I observed with wireshark
(421 No transfer timeout (300 seconds): closing control connection).

After that, everytime I open a folder on the FTP server I get only an
unexpected end of stream error. To access the FTP server again I
have to disconnect and then connect again. Nautilus does not seem to
  know that the connection closed.

A better behaviour IMHO would be to try and reconnect to the FTP
  server.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1217191] Re: Send document as Open Document Text fails to attach doc when using Thunderbird

2014-07-30 Thread Christian Gonzalez
While it workarounds the issue temporarily, it should be solved in the package.
There are two options for Ubuntu:
* pre-fill the field in the libreoffice package with thunderbird
(Ubuntu-centric)
* add a link /usr/bin/sensible-louma which points to /usr/bin/thunderbird

I'd prefer the second option because: it leaves LO alone and seems to be more
update proof.
This link could be managed by update-alternative.

So instead of changing the LO value (which anyway is only user specific,
so you would have to change that for EACH single user on your system,
just do a

ln -s /usr/bin/thunderbird /usr/local/bin/sensible-louma

This workarounds the issue as well and a) leaves room for updates, b)
doesn't touch the LO settings so all users are affected.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1217191] Re: Send document as Open Document Text fails to attach doc when using Thunderbird

2014-07-30 Thread Christian Gonzalez
Two things more:
1. My comment above is obsolete anyway, as the new LO does not use
sensible-lomua any more. It talks directly to the ExternalMailer.
2. It still does NOT work here (Ubuntu 14.04, LO 4.2.4). Thunderbird is opened
after Send email as ODT, name is filled in, but there is no attachment added.
I can NOT confirm that this bug is fixed.

Bug description:
The built-in bluetooth adapter of my laptop (running 14.04 Trusty
Tahr, upgraded from 13.10 Saucy Salamander) appears with the default
name ubuntu-0. I could not find a way to change this name through
the GUI tools (eg. System Settings-Bluetooth Settings or System
Settings-Details-Overview-Device name)). This seems to be related
  to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/989817 and
  probably caused by
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/644198 as my
  hostname is properly configured.

The explanation of the source of the problem in
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/989817/comments/12
seems to match the situation and so appears to be correct. The Device
name in System Settings-Details-Overview is the proper hostname,
and it is also greyed-out, so I can't make any modifications there.
  Unfortunately, short of editing manually
  /var/lib/bluetooth/[$ADDR]/config or creating /etc/machine-info I
couldn't find a way to solve the problem. /etc/bluetooth/main.conf
contains the default Name = %h-%d.

I'm not completely sure how this could be solved - either there should
be a way to set the name through System Settings if it has been
stored already in /var/lib/bluetooth/[$ADDR]/config or ubiquity
package should replace ubuntu-0 with the hostname during the post-
installation phase, after a proper hostname has been configured.

Please, feel free to reassign this bug to one of the other packages if
you think that it should be solved there.
