Bug description:
  indicator-messages got updated, introducing a new libmessaging-menu
api (deprecating the old libindicate library) which should make
  application developper's life easier.

The indicator work is done and the library is ready and we started
  porting applications

The current stack is being tested in https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-
  desktop/+archive/ppa/

  It includes
  - indicator-messages
  - gwibber
  - indicator-telepathy
  - thunderbird (soon, work is being finished)

which is what we consider the minimal set for landing the feature

for quantal we will add those soon:
  - pidgin
  - xchat-indicator
  - evolution-indicator

  Unity-panel doesn't react on click

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
The Panel of unity get's inacessible clicks or alt+f10 don't have any
  impact.

I only noticed it while using spotify or chrome, but only a unity
--replace makes the indicator and the menu sometimes acessible again
time by time I has to reboot. The HUD is working as expected

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 965328] [NEW] Change label of 'set up broadcast account'

2012-03-26 Thread Christian Rupp
Public bug reported:

The option for setting up accounts like facebook is disturbing. The term
broadcast account is not clear for new user.
We should replace 'broadcast' with 'social network'

The option for setting up accounts like facebook is disturbing. The term
broadcast account is not clear for new user.
We should replace 'broadcast' with 'social network'

This was pointed out in a Canonical's user study about the top
  showstoppers for new users:

  http://design.canonical.com/2010/06/when-new-users-first-encounter-
  ubuntu-5-show-stoppers/

  3. Use of jargon

During their exploration of Ubuntu, participants encountered words they
didn’t know, or didn’t expect, or terms that they had no use for:
examples included ‘Gwibber’,’broadcast’,’terminal’ and ‘server’. “You
lose me with ‘terminal’ and ‘server’.” one person said.

The use of such specialised language significantly influenced how users
perceived the brand and the intended audience for Ubuntu. Some of the
participants wondered whether Ubuntu was meant really for expert users
  rather than for them.
