[Desktop-packages] [Bug 16492] Re: Mouse pointer should disappear when keyboard is in use and mouse isn't

2012-11-15 Thread David Gomes
I really dislike it when my mouse disappears, I like to know where it is
if I have to pick it up while writing. For example, while writing this
comment I could have the need to check my email or IRC. I do feel it'd
be great as an option though.

Bug description:
  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Click near the top left of a text field to focus it.
  2. Start typing.
  Or:
  1. Click in a browser window to focus the page.
  2. Read the page, scrolling with the arrow keys.
  Or:
  1. Click in an e-mail message window to focus the message.
  2. Read the message, scrolling with the arrow keys.

  What happens:
  * The mouse pointer gets in the way of what you're typing/reading.

  What should happen:
  * Whenever you press a non-modifier key on the keyboard, if the pointing
device has been neither moved nor clicked in the past ~0.25 seconds, the
pointer
should disappear until the pointing device is next moved or clicked.

But won't this make people lose the pointer?
  * No. For human eyes, such a small object is much easier to find by movement
than by searching the entire screen. As soon as they grab the mouse again, the
pointer will appear, and they'll see where it is.

  This is nuts!
  * It's worked on the Mac for over two decades. Most people haven't noticed.
They just get slightly irritated on *other* platforms when the pointer gets in
  the way.

(Apologies if this is filed under the wrong product.)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 857704] Re: gedit crashed with SIGSEGV in gtk_tree_model_filter_real_visible()

2011-09-27 Thread David Gomes
Well, with the latest updates, I now get 3.2.0 (gedit --version). I
still use gedit on daily basis and it hasn't happened since.

I can't say for sure it's fixed, but if something was done about it and
I don't get it anymore, then I believe not.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 640018] Re: empathy throws untrusted certificate warning on google chat services using google apps (non-google domains)

I can also confirm for 11.10.

--

Title:
empathy throws untrusted certificate warning on google chat services
  using google apps (non-google domains)

Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: empathy

On Ubuntu 10.10, Empathy will throw an 'untrusted certificate,
proceed?' warning during log-on for the Google Chat service when the
user is using Google Apps and not a standard gmail.com /
  googlemail.com / google.com email address.

As an example, my Google Chat address uses Google Apps (google
services through personally owned domains) and is
da...@justsomeboy.com, and empathy expects the certificate hostname to
match the 'justsomeboy.com' domain and not the google domain.

  The error thrown is:

This connection is untrusted. Would you like to continue anyway?

The identity provided by the chat server cannot be verified. The
hostname verified by the certificate doesn't match the server name.

  Expected hostname: justsomeboy.com
  Certificate hostname: talk.google.com

This is a recent change, earlier Maverick builds didn't throw this
message. As there is no way on the Google Apps service to include
certificates, this trusting check potentially should be disabled for
  the Google Chat service.

2011-09-04 Thread David Gomes
This bug report was written in Portuguese, and I am now translating it:

"não abre pop up de radio on line para ouvir musica"

"quando tento abrir pop up da radio on line (sokakarecos .com.br) abre o
popup mas não tem som. ja baxei plug-ins mas não resolveu. instalei o
(ie tab) que no site diz que iria resolver mas não resolveu. voces podem

"No online radio pop-up opened to listen to music"

"When I try to open the online radio pop-up of (sokakarecos.com.br), the
pop-up opens, but there's no sound. I've already downloaded plugins, but
it didn't work. I installed IE Tab (because the website said it would
fix it), but it also didn't work. Can you help me"

Besides Firefox and IE Tab, have you tried other browsers, such as
Chromium?
