Title:
[Satellite A215, Realtek ALC268, Mic, Internal] No sound at all. My
built-in internal mic won't record sounds.

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
My built-in internal mic on my Toshiba Satellite-A215 will not pick up
sounds. The external speakers work just fine, but once again the mic
can't record any sounds. I have an Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS.

Below is a link of my ALSA "info" that may be useful:

  http://www.alsa-
  project.org/db/?f=10a2337ec9b863d7414121dff10f30ad0cdf430d

I've tried the ALSA DKMS update recommended to me by an
  ubuntuforums.org user from this link:

  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS

However after following the instructions from the above link, the mic
  still has not worked.

The same Ubuntu forum user suggested I file a bug. He/she provided me
with a link from "an old report from an A215 with the same ALC268
  codec":

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...r/+bug/1081353

I provided this because it may be helpful in the debug process.

The version of ALSA I have is shown below:
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version k3.19.0-61-generic.

Any help would be appreciated, please let me know if you need any
  additional info.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1591535] Re: [Satellite A215, Realtek ALC268, Mic, Internal] No sound at all. My built-in internal mic won't record sounds.

2019-01-09 Thread David VANTYGHEM
I had the same problem on 2 computers with same chipset.

Russell Treleaven helped me on Alsa bugtracker :
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/issues/617
He found that when Pulseaudio Capture level is more than 21%, Line boost, Mic
Boost and Internal Mic Boost are always at Max in Alsamixer and then, nothing
is recorded.
With Alsamixer or Pavucontrol, it's possible to set correctly all levels and to
activate Capture 0 and Capture 1.

But each time I'm using again Linux Mint MATE or Ubuntu sound control
panel, if I put Pulseaudio Capture level at more than 21%, capture
doesn't work anymore again !

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 608150] Re: [Realtek ALC268] internal mic does not work

2018-12-19 Thread David VANTYGHEM
I have this problem with Ubuntu 18.04, 18.10 and Linux Mint 19, on 2 computers :
HP Pavilion dv6700 and Acer Extensa 5620Z, both with a Realtek ALC268 chipset.
Audio is working but not internal microphone (and on HP Pavilion, external
microphone doesn't work too).
As explained in https://elubuntero.wordpress.com/tag/realtek-alc268/ , I tried
to add linux-backports-modules-*** but this package isn't anymore in Ubuntu and
Mint repositories.

I tried all options as explained in https://doc.ubuntu-
fr.org/audio_intel_hda , no result. Please heelp.

** Changed in: pulseaudio (Ubuntu)
   Status: Expired => Confirmed

Bug description:
My computer is Acer TravelMate 7520G. Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope.

Sound card is working otherwise ok, but the internal microphone does't
work at all. I've tired modifying the alsa-base.conf file's last row
to read like: options snd-hda-intel model=acer-aspire, options snd-
hda-intel model=acer and the third one for digital built-in acer mic.
None of the above have worked.

From the user's point of wiev it seems like the microphone cannot be
activated at all. If I try to activate my microphone from sound menu (from top
right corner on desk top) -> volume control -> record (tab), the microphone is
allways showing a red cross (like it is muted). The red cross can be removed,
but the red cross appears back after closing the control panel.

After test recording with mic activated the result is only static
  noise during play-back.
