[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1245155] Re: Menus are very slow to load

2013-10-31 Thread Dennis Peteranderl
Same situation here. I have a rather powerful PC: QuadCore 3.2 GHz, 8GB
Ram, Nvidia 1024 MB, 64bit system as well. The range goes from 3 second
delay to 20 seconds and longer while showing fragments of other
windows' menus. The whole problem seems to only inflict GIMP and I don't
notice any influence on the rest of the system. Also I get the
impression that it gets worse the longer GIMP is opened, no matter how
big the file is that GIMP has to handle.

Title:
Menus are very slow to load

Status in “gimp” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When trying to use menu (File - Edit - Select - etc) it takes at time
over 10 sec to appear and further 3-5sec to load the drop down menus.
Often when switching from another program the previous program is
still there. This does not happen in other programs. This happens with
one small file and with many big files open in Gimp. Gimp used to be
nice and fast, even in 13.10. Not sure which update caused it to slow
down, been running 13.10 beta for a while.

Shortcuts work just fine, I just can't remember them all and therefore
  has to use the menu.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1048997] [NEW] unnecessary translation of Human icon theme

2012-09-11 Thread Dennis Peteranderl
Public bug reported:

In Libreoffice Version 3.6.1.2 (Build ID: 360m1(Build:2)) on Ubuntu
12.10 Beta1 with german language enabled when you go to OptionsView
and then to icon size and style you have a dropdown-menu to pick your
icon style and choose between the two themes Mensch and Tango.

The Mensch theme is actually the Human-theme and it seems that it
was unnecessarily translated into the german word Mensch though it is
a name and therefore shouldn't be translated.

** Affects: libreoffice (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1048753] Re: turn off libreoffice ubuntu 12.10 global menu

2012-09-10 Thread Dennis Peteranderl
a the moment the native global menu implementation of Libreoffice seems pretty
buggy.
A workaround that worked for me was installing the old global menu plugin via
sudo apt-get install lo-menubar.

Good Luck

Title:
Unity menu integration stops working 12.10 Beta 1

Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Trying out Libre Office in Quantal and I notice what appears to be a bug
in the integration with Unity's menu.

  An example:

   1. start up Writer
   2. menu items in Unity menu are generally accessible (for example, Help)
   3. insert a table in the empty document page
   4. menu items in Unity menu are no longer accessible (for example, Help)

I do not have a way to recover normal menu behaviour except to
  restart the application.

We discussed this a bit on ubuntu-qa on 7 September 2012; the
following additional comment was offered (I have not verified it):

I noticed this issue too on Quantal, not only with tables but any
libreoffice menu, like if they can be used only once then almost all
  the items are disabled.

  ProblemType: Bug
  DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10
  Package: libreoffice (not installed)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 863154] Re: Wacom Bamboo One tablet random coordinate malfunctions

2011-11-16 Thread Dennis Peteranderl
I can confirm the bug on my 11.10 machine with my new Bamboo Pen Touch
SE. Tablet and mouse, however, work fine on desktop and other programs
so far.

I gave Gimp 2.7.3 a try but it's missing to many features I am used to
til now.

I will try the xorg edgers workaround.

Title:
Wacom Bamboo One tablet random coordinate malfunctions

Status in The GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP):
  Unknown
Status in “gimp” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
The tablet in overall seems to work correctly, with all pressure-
features working. But quite frequently, while drawing, GIMP seems to
wrongly read the coordinates of the stylus (as zeros, or negative
values?), resulting in frequent, random 'line-peaks' in the direction
of the left and upper image edges. With this bug it is hard to even
use the tablet, since these problems are very frequent (see the
  exemplary image attached).

The tablet works with no problems in MyPaint. The bug is reproducible
  in both Unity-2d and Unity-3d.

I also notice the CPU usage increasing dramatically during drawing
  with any brush.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Connect the Wacom Bamboo One tablet
  2. Open GIMP
  3. Start drawing longer strokes with any brush

  Expected result:
The brush stroke as intended by moving the stylus

  Actual result:
The brush stroke as intended with frequent, random line-strokes towards image
edges

System: Ubuntu 11.10 oneiric (development branch)
GIMP version: 2.6.11 (package version: 2.6.11-2ubuntu3)
