[Desktop-packages] [Bug 556584] Re: Empathy refuses to go online if it thinks there's no network connection
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 311581 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/311581 ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 457870 empathy does not recognize ppp connections ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 311581 MASTER Network Manager integrated ppp support - should allow the configuration of dial up modems -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/556584 Title: Empathy refuses to go online if it thinks there's no network connection Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: empathy Currently, Empathy won't allow me to go online: the status dropdown and other UI widgets are greyed out. In accounts settings, it says No network connection. However, I'm clearly connected to the network, since I'm able to file this bug report. Just because NetworkManager reports no connection, doesn't mean I couldn't be connected in some other way - pppd, etc. Empathy should at least try to connect, rather than refusing to do anything at all. Other programs that require an internet connection work fine for me.
