[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1399579] [NEW] Rash of .desktop files xscreensaver package
Public bug reported: the xscreensaver package installs a .desktop file for each screensaver under /usr/share/applications/xscreensaver. In GNOME 3 these all show up in the applications overlay in the Activities screen. Is there a good reason for all of the .desktop files? Can they be places in a default location such that they don't show up as GNOME 3 Apps? Not sure what the behaviour is in Unity, but I'd guess it's the same. This is bad behaviour for the GUI dependent user -- i.e. me -- who may not connect a recent install with a new flood of iconless apps that will then quietly run in the background if clicked. So, to summarise: What I'm trying to achieve: modify installation of xscreensaver package such that .desktop files either don't exist or install in a location where GNOME (and other desktop environments) wont pick them up. Steps I took: installed xscreensaver package under Ubuntu 14.10 with GNOME 3.12 What I would like to have happen: Allow install without the apps appearing in GNOME Activities Apps overlay. Thanks much and I'm willing to help as much as I can. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 665466] Re: GDM does not sort users by login frequency
Still a problem in 13.04. The GDM login order on my machine has nothing to do with frequency. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/665466 Title: GDM does not sort users by login frequency Status in “gdm” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: gdm GDM on my netbook running 10.10 (Unity) is not ordering the users by their login frequency. Querying ck-history --frequent shows: user A: 476 user B: 2 Yet user B tops the list. User A also has a lower UID and is before user B in the alphabet, so I haven't a clue what priority GDM is using.
