[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1700043] [NEW] Thunderbird unable to print/preview

2017-06-23 Thread Fernando Fernandez
Public bug reported:

Since the upgrade to 17.04 thunderbird no longer prints. Even preview is
not working. I tried two different printers, txt and html messages. The
preview window comes empty (see attachement) and the printed sheets come
only with header and footer, but no content (html messages produce only
some horizontal lines, but no real content rendering). My printers are
an HP Laserjet and a Samsung CLP laser.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1692330] Re: firefox hangs using 100% cpu

2017-05-21 Thread Fernando Fernandez
Managed to put my finger on the pattern. Had something to do with stored
passwords. Tried to import stored passwords with Chromium and the same
thing happened. It's probably a corrupted sqlite file. :-(

Moved away the firefox folder in .mozilla and the problem went away.

Posted this bug before, but this time I caught it really hanging up.
Maybe the report is more useful this time.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1692298] [NEW] firefox hangs using 100% cpu

2017-05-21 Thread Fernando Fernandez
Public bug reported:

Firefox is hanging with no special pattern. It can be loading a saved
tab, open a new page, using an already opened page. It simply starts
using 100% cpu and becomes unusable, never coming back (>100 minutes).
This is random, happening a lot, but not always.

Bug description:
Firefox is hanging with no special pattern. It can be loading a saved
tab, open a new page, using an already opened page. It simply starts

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1677313] [NEW] Temporary keyboard and mouse freeze (5+ minutes) while copying big file

2017-03-29 Thread Fernando Fernandez
Public bug reported:

While copying a big file from SSD to HD the whole interface froze, the
only exception being that rhythmbox kept playing the radio stream with
just 2 or 3 very minor hicups. After the copy finished, all went back to
normal.

This has happened before but only with very large files (> 1GB). With
small files no problems arise.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1644986] [NEW] Screen flickering since 16.10 upgrade

2016-11-26 Thread Fernando Fernandez
Public bug reported:

I'm noticing some random screen flickering since 16.10 upgrade.
Something like every 10 minutes, mainly on the secondary monitor (hdmi
connected), but sometimes on the laptop display too.

Not sure if it's related, but when using LibreOffice Impress to display
presentations on the secondary display the problem worsens, but it's
only flickering in parts of the display, not all.

  Login Successful, Desktop Never Loads

Status in at-spi2-core package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Here is what I encounter
  1. Boot computer, boot proceeds normally
  2. Reach standard Ubuntu login screen, nothing seems to be amiss
  3. Enter user name and password
  4. Login disappears, just see the pink "Ubuntu 14.04" background

The desktop never loads, not even after ~30 minutes. The launcher
never appears, and the Desktop background never changes to the user-
  configured background.

  Other features:
  * Cursor works fine, it can be moved around the screen
  * No error messages pop up
  * ALT+F1 etc. can be used to switch to different TTYs; all files on the
system appear to be intact
  * Print screen button works (I will upload a screen shot when I get a chance
to copy it onto a USB drive)
  * Hitting power button pops up a window prompting the user to decide whether
to shut down
  * CTRL+ALT+DELETE prompts the user to log out
  * Desktop does not load on any user accounts, including the guest account

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1285444] Re: Login Successful, Desktop Never Loads

2016-09-16 Thread Fernando Fernandez
Since an update a couple of days ago, I have the same symptoms.

I log in normally, the desktop appears (with icons) but nothing else.
With right mouse click I can open a terminal, but windows have no
borders and no menus.

I removed my ~/.config/dconf and .config/compiz-1 and checked my
.XAuthority permissions, but the problem subsists.

My .xsession-errors only contain this:
openConnection: connect: No such file or directory
cannot connect to brltty at :0

I'm running Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1589073] Re: nm-applet not showing existing wifi connection

2016-06-07 Thread Fernando Fernandez
Software updater says I have everything up-to-date.

Here is my current list of network-manager packages:

dpkg --list | grep network-manager
ii network-manager 1.1.93-0ubuntu4
  amd64network management framework (daemon and
userspace tools)
ii network-manager-gnome 1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04.1

ii network-manager-pptp 1.1.93-1ubuntu1
  amd64network management framework (PPTP plugin
core)
ii network-manager-pptp-gnome1.1.93-1ubuntu1
  amd64network management framework (PPTP plugin

Anyway, I already did a couple of updates since I posted this bug. And
I'm not experiencing the problem right now. Even before, the problem was
frequent but not constant. I'm monitoring the situation to see if it's
already solved by those updates.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1417072] [NEW] Thunderbird address auto-completion is ignoring frequency

2015-02-02 Thread Fernando Fernandez
Public bug reported:

Since a couple of weeks now thunderbird lost the ability to suggest
message addressing based on frequency.

Usually, when composing a message, most used addresses would come on top
of the drop-down address list. Now, the most used addresses come almost
at the end of the list.

This is very annoying, since we usually trust TB for most used addresses
(our colleages) and this means team messages now tend to go to
outsiders, when we are in a hurry.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1299792] Re: Xorg dumping core on Hibrid graphics Intel+ATI

2014-03-30 Thread Fernando Fernandez
Here is the xorg logfile from the situation where it dumps core. It's
after the first reboot.

Apparently, X finds a different list of hardware, tries to use the ATI
card and fails.

two situations.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1299792] Re: Xorg dumping core on Hibrid graphics Intel+ATI

2014-03-30 Thread Fernando Fernandez
This bug filing might not be complete because ubuntu-bug was not working
at the time. Only managed to send the bug after having found a
workaround.

You can see a small history of the problem at
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2213955

Summarising:
Xorg on live usb stick doesn't find the ATI card, so it works with the intel
one, and it's fine, apparently.

After install, the same Xorg finds different list of hardware, including
the ATI card and tries to work with it, and dumps core.
