[Desktop-packages] [Bug 296867]
@Xavier: Can't you provide us, at very least, a small tutorial showing how to compile this with the latest empathy build? Because it doesn't work. If not - I donated years ago for this to be implemented, so I'll want my money back. :P -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296867 Title: empathy needs to support OTR encryption Status in Empathy: Confirmed Status in One Hundred Papercuts: Invalid Status in libtelepathy: Confirmed Status in empathy package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in libtelepathy package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in empathy package in Fedora: Won't Fix Bug description: Binary package hint: empathy Hello, I just tried empathy (the Intrepid version) and it looked very solid and stable. In regards to my previous comment. I discovered enable-otr is in /src/connection.c, once you get the right branch... git clone git://people.freedesktop.org/~smcv/telepathy-gabble git checkout untested-otr I also tried setting the default "FALSE" option to "TRUE". Still OTR doesn't work for me, perhaps empathy also needs to be patched (instead of just gabble). However Xaivers empathy branch no longer runs properly on my system due to changes in gtk, so I am unable to test the older version. So, that's as far as I made it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296867 Title: empathy needs to support OTR encryption Status in Chat app, and Telepathy user interface: Confirmed Status in One Hundred Papercuts: Invalid Status in Telepathy framework - library: Confirmed Status in empathy package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in libtelepathy package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in empathy package in Fedora: Won't Fix Bug description: Binary package hint: empathy Hello, I just tried empathy (the Intrepid version) and it looked very solid and stable. (In reply to Xavier Claessens from comment #99) > You probably want python2. So after I ran the make install I started up empathy, but was unable to use "/otr start". It claims command is not found. I then read this: > You need to set "enable-otr=true" in your CM parameters, otherwise OTR is > disabled No idea what a CM parameter is or where to set it, so I ran grep on all the files. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 223774]
I think the original bug report here (NoDCC causes hang) has been fixed. I am currently testing the trident driver on an ancient laptop here, and it has many bugs, but this isn't one of them. The "vesa" mode doesn't work, and most importantly auto-detection doesn't work. Manually writing your own Xorg configuration and assigning driver as "trident" however, works fine. What you need is: Driver "trident" Option "AccelMethod" "EXA" At that point you get the proper response from Xorg: (WW) TRIDENT(0): Option "NoDCC" is not used So it simply skips NoDCC in the config file and in turn skips the hang. I will be opening another bug report regarding detection. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-trident in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/223774 Title: NoDDC option doesn't work for trident cyberblade/i1 resulting in system lockup Status in Release Notes for Ubuntu: Invalid Status in xf86-video-trident: Confirmed Status in X.Org X server: Invalid Status in xserver-xorg-video-trident package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in xserver-xorg-video-trident source package in Intrepid: Won't Fix Bug description: In Gutsy it was possible get the display on a Toshiba Satellite 1800 (which I'm putting together for an group I'm part of) working by editing the Device section of of /etc/X11/xorg.conf to have Option "NoDDC" "true". This no longer works in Hardy and thus the laptop is a paperweight with Hardy. (vesa driver doesn't work either, for either) The display adaptor built into the laptop is a Trident CyberBlade/i1 A fresh install of Hardy does not solve the problem. Only reverting to Gutsy and editing xorg.conf does. In fact for Gutsy it is necessary to install an xorg.conf that has NoDDC before the initial installation of xserver.org is made or else the installer hangs with a blank screen during the configuration of that package. This makes Ubuntu unsuitable for distribution with this laptop as it'd be far too easy for someone to end up with a non-working system, and depending on who gets it (it's a donation that's being raffled off), I may not be close enough to support the end user in case of trouble.
