[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1862549] Re: memory leak when annotating PDFs
** Bug watch added: gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evince/-/issues #1010 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evince/-/issues/1010 ** Also affects: evince via https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evince/-/issues/1010 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1862549 Title: memory leak when annotating PDFs Status in Evince: Unknown Status in evince package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When annotating PDFs or scrolling through larger PDFs that contain lots of annotations, evince claims a large amount of memory and never releases it. This becomes especially apparent when using the highlight feature, i.e. highlighting various parts of the text on the PDF. On a 12-page PDF, not annotated, evince used about 35 MB of RAM and claimed an additional 30 as soon as I used the highlight feature the first time, then this repeats with about the same amount or more for each additional highlight. The interface starts to lag visibly the more memory is allocated. Occasionally, the memory usage goes down by a few percent when scrolling, but it tends to allocate more and more memory until the system runs out of memory. Using the same 12-page PDF with about 100 highlighted lines and quickly scrolling through the document multiple times, evince reached about 6 GB of memory usage in less than one minute. This issue also makes closing documents very slow, taking about 5 to 10 seconds for each gigabyte of memory allocated. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1967274] Re: Screen sometimes can't update [Failed to post KMS update: CRTC property (GAMMA_LUT) not found]
I would like to add one extra data point. I was bitten by this issue using 22.10 (Kinetic), but with Linux 5.14-oem (the one shipped with Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Gen 10th, from 22.04). From what I read, mutter 43.0 should have handled it nicely, but it did not. Otherwise I would not have arrived here :-) Upgrading to Linux 5.17.0-1003-oem did work, though. FWIW, I had some crashes with vmlinuz-5.19.0-23 at boot time and later on, so I tried the kernel that came with the laptop (5.14.0-1054-oem). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1967274 Title: Screen sometimes can't update [Failed to post KMS update: CRTC property (GAMMA_LUT) not found] Status in Mutter: Fix Released Status in OEM Priority Project: Fix Released Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in mutter package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in linux source package in Jammy: Fix Released Status in mutter source package in Jammy: Fix Released Bug description: Screen can't turn back on by clicking keyboard after screen off by meta + l key. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1511002] Re: Computer freezes/crashes while using GNOME
I set it back to Confirmed as this bug mainly is a crash report, with a kernel stacktrace. The stacktrace may help a developer to see where the issue is. The other bug is only about the garbage text, something I mentioned that may be related, but it may be not and just be coincidence. Anyhow, I will test the setting suggested there (to fallback from SNA to UXA), and see whether I can get a crash report in the following days. Otherwise, I will try back to SNA and test the same again. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1511002 Title: Computer freezes/crashes while using GNOME Status in xserver-xorg-video-intel package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I think I have two issues (may related) with the Intel driver for my graphic card. In Evince upstream, we have seen similar reports in the past, but all of them have turned out to be Ubuntu specific (i.e. issues with apparmor). As per comment https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=661936#c9: File named test: [12219.529055] type=1400 audit(1420318053.543:106): apparmor=DENIED operation=open profile=/usr/bin/evince name=/var/run/test pid=22519 comm=EvJobScheduler requested_mask=r denied_mask=r fsuid=1000 ouid=0 After renaming to test.pdf it works as expected. This does not apply if file is in user home dir. Looks to me like distro (namely Ubuntu) specific. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/867749 Title: Permission Denied error when reading a pdf format file whos name doesn't end in .pdf Status in Evince document viewer: Unknown Status in evince package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When opening a pdf document that has a name ending in '.pdf' the document opens as expected. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 311614] Re: If DPI in X != DPI in Gnome, document dimensions are not true at 100% zoom
This might be a bug in screenruler. If I change the DPI of the screen and the document is set to 100% (representing physical size), then, the document should change its size. That is, if the document is A4 and I put an actual A4 sheet on top of the screen, changing the DPI should not change the document size. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 806606] Re: ip information frame not displayed correctly
Stable distributions only make updates between minor releases, not between major releases. This avoid the introduction of regressions in other places. Nevertheless, gnome-nettool 3.0.1 was released in January and there is no update in Ubuntu. You can file a bug for getting that package into 11.10. However, gnome-nettool 3.0.1 does not include the fix for this particular bug because the solution implies a change in the UI. Therefore it was included in gnome-nettool 3.1, which is is a development version of the next gnome 3.2 (not released yet). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-nettool in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/806606 Title: ip information frame not displayed correctly Status in GNOME Nettool: Fix Released Status in “gnome-nettool” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: In gnome-nettools, If you want to see the information about your network interface (after IP Information label) you can notice that is not displayed correctly, see the attached screenshot.
