[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1849693] Re: [snap] Upgrading from kubuntu 19.04 to 19.10 lost all chromium settings

2019-11-09 Thread Gert Brinkmann
After creating the Symlink inside of the .config/chromium/ directory, my
config was transfered fine on the next chromium restart. So I have found
a workaround for my situation. Thank you.

gert@flupp:~/.config/chromium$ ln -s Profile\ 1/ Default
gert@flupp:~/.config/chromium$ cd
gert@flupp:~$ rm -rf ~/snap/chromium/current/.config/

Title:
[snap] Upgrading from kubuntu 19.04 to 19.10 lost all chromium
  settings

Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I just have upgraded from kubuntu 19.04 to 19.10. chromium was changed
from deb to snap 77.0.3865.120-0ubuntu1~snap1. When starting the
browser for the first time, it should have imported all former
settings. But it did not. E.g. all bookmarks and saved passwords are
  gone.

Is there a way to start the config import afterwards?

The workaround mentioned under the following link did not help in my case:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1849693] Re: [snap] Upgrading from kubuntu 19.04 to 19.10 lost all chromium settings

2019-11-09 Thread Gert Brinkmann
As a new chromium version came in I have tested this again:

gert@flupp:~$ rm -rf ~/snap/chromium/current/.config/
gert@flupp:~$ chromium
[10090:10090:1109/162748.523398:ERROR:sandbox_linux.cc(369)]

[10155:1:1109/162749.903262:ERROR:child_process_sandbox_support_impl_linux.cc(81)]
FontService unique font name matching request did not receive a response.
gert@flupp:~$

Again the config was not transfered.

gert@flupp:~$ sed -e 's/.*"last_chrome_version":"\([0-9\.]\+\)".*/\1\n/'
~/.config/chromium/Default/Preferences
sed: can't read /home/gert/.config/chromium/Default/Preferences: No such file
or directory

Should there be a Link "Default" to the "Profile 1" directory?

Here is the content of my former .config/chromium directory:

gert@flupp:~$ ls -l ~/.config/chromium/

2019-10-24 16:47:13 status not-installed chromium-browser-l10n:all

After starting the PC and logging into KDE without starting chromium:
gert@flupp:~$ snap connections chromium | grep password
password-manager-service chromium:password-manager-service
:password-manager-service manual

I remember that after the upgrade when the configs have not been
transfered, that last "manual" was not printed. I think it was a "-"
instead. After starting up the connection manually as mentioned in the
bug 1849160 the "manual" was printed.

After removing the ~/snap/chromium/current/.config/ directory and
starting chromium the following was printed to konsole. (And the
settings were not transfered.)

gert@flupp:~$ which chromium
/snap/bin/chromium
gert@flupp:~$ chromium

I just have upgraded from kubuntu 19.04 to 19.10. chromium was changed

Title:
Upgrading from kubuntu 19.04 to 19.10 lost all chhromium settings

Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I just have upgraded from kubuntu 19.04 to 19.10. chromium was changed
from deb to snap 77.0.3865.120-0ubuntu1~snap1. When starting the
browser for the first time, it should have imported all former
settings. But it did not. E.g. all bookmarks and saved passwords are
  gone.

Is there a way to start the config import afterwards?

The workaround mentioned under the following link did not help in my case:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1849693] Re: Upgrading from kubuntu 19.04 to 19.10 lost all chhromium settings

2019-10-25 Thread Gert Brinkmann
Hello Olivier,

No, I don't think that chromium was installed as snap before. I have
never installed snap things myself, only maybe such packages that were
installed by the system, AFAIK.

I did the apport-collect and attached the history.log

Regards
Gert

Will the transfer of the .config/chromium files start again when
removing the snap/chromium files? So I could test if it works with a
second try.

2019-10-25 Thread Gert Brinkmann
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected eoan snap

** Description changed:

I just have upgraded from kubuntu 19.04 to 19.10. chromium was changed
from deb to snap 77.0.3865.120-0ubuntu1~snap1. When starting the browser
for the first time, it should have imported all former settings. But it
did not. E.g. all bookmarks and saved passwords are gone.

Is there a way to start the config import afterwards?

The workaround mentioned under the following link did not help in my case:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1768291] Re: lirc is flooding the syslog with two lines each second

2018-05-04 Thread Gert Brinkmann
Hello,

I have to correct myself: You can remove the lirc package without losing
other packages. The problem was that I had tried to remove all three
*lirc* packages. And at least one of them has some dependencies from
other packages.

Greetings
Gert

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1161854] Re: System Notification Warning: flashplugin-installer could not be processed

2014-04-30 Thread Gert Brinkmann
I ran into this problem again. Removing the file
/var/lib/update-notifier/user.d/data-downloads-failed-permanently
seems to stop the occurence of the notification.

Title:
System Notification Warning: flashplugin-installer could not be
  processed

Status in “flashplugin-nonfree” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Upgrading the flashplugin-installer had a problem with downloading the
flash-tar-file. Because it took very long I have interrupted it and
retried again with AFAIR "apt-get -f install". The plugin was
  successfully updated then.

But: Everytime I log into KDE I see a system notification "Update
  Information":

"Data files for some packages could not be downloaded

The following packages requested additional data downloads after
package installation, but the data could not be downloaded or could
not be processed...flashplugin-installer... This is a permanent
failure that leaves the packages unusable on your system. You may need
to fix your internal connection, then remove and reinstall the
  packages to fix this problem".

So I tried to "apt-get purge flashplugin-installer" and reinstalled it
again "apt-get install flashplugin-installer". But the warning still
persists. (Although flash does work fine in e.g. firefox.)

How can I get rid of this warning?

  Thanks,
  Gert

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1161854] [NEW] System Notification Warning: flashplugin-installer could not be processed

2013-03-29 Thread Gert Brinkmann
Public bug reported:

Upgrading the flashplugin-installer had a problem with downloading the
flash-tar-file. Because it took very long I have interrupted it and
retried again with AFAIR "apt-get -f install". The plugin was
successfully updated then.

But: Everytime I log into KDE I see a system notification "Update

processed...flashplugin-installer... This is a permanent failure that
leaves the packages unusable on your system. You may need to fix your

So I tried to "apt-get purge flashplugin-installer" and reinstalled it
again "apt-get install flashplugin-installer". But the warning still
persists. (Although flash does work fine in e.g. firefox.)

How can I get rid of this warning?
