[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1574347] Re: [SRU] Re-read the link type if the name changed

2016-06-03 Thread Giovanni Mellini
Same problem form me after the updates.

NM needs to re-read the DEVTYPE after the device name changed, an example is
that WiFi network list disappears from network manager applet

  [Testcase]
  1. Boot the system. It should include a wireless device.
  2. In a terminal, run 'nmcli dev'.
  3. In the correct case, the line for the wireless device should read "wifi"
under the TYPE column. In a failure case, it will read "ethernet".

After upgrading to the new version, the repeating the above steps
  should give expected behavior.

  [Regression Potential]
Potential of causing regression is relatively small for a one line change to
re-read a value to be known.

  ---

  Problems:-

  1. The network manager applet does not show the list of WiFI APs it can find.
  2. The network manager applet does not the name of the AP to which it is
connected
  3. The icon of the applet shows two vertical arrows in opposite direction -
the wired connection symbol and NOT the wifi connected icon.

  Temporary Workaround:-
Log out and again log back in.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1308850] [NEW] Dash is visible on top of the lockscreen after screen monitor auto locks

2014-04-16 Thread Giovanni Mellini
Public bug reported:

This is 100% reproducible on my side with an updated 14.04

I have a laptop that after 3 minutes of inactivity shutdown the screen
and lock-it.

If I press the SUPER button to activate the dash and then I wait 3 minutes for
auto screen locking the screen become black.
After that when I move the mouse to go to lockscreen and unlock my session, I
see the dash on top of the lockscreen.
I can digit my password and unlock the laptop pressing enter but I cannot see
the username, box, dots etc
I think that the screenshot attached explain very whell what I'm writing.

I think that this is a security problem because as you can see from my
screenshot other people can see my personal data (file and folders)
without authorization.

  [Test Case]

Open LibreOffice Writer, go to global menu, click on any menu to open,
  hover over items.

Expected: Orange highlight (from default theme, color not important)
  on mouse hover

  Actual: No highlight, except:
  - text in mid-grey colour changing a bit (brighter grey)
  - menu entries that lead to a direct action get an orange square on the left
side
  - menu entries that lead to opening another windows just don't change
  - submenus open, but highlighting works the same way in sub-menus

  [Regression Potential]

A revert of the offending commit.

Just did an update today to 3.8.0-18 kernel and the bug is here again.
When I boot to 3.8.0-18 kernel (I have nvidia-313-updates installed) the nvidia

  12.04 - 20120307

When using touchpad, the menu items are not highlighted. When using a
USB mouse or TrackPoint the widgets are reacting properly.

  STR:
  1. Open nautilus
  2. Open the "File" menu, OR right-click in the window, OR open any of the
option menus inside the Preferences window.
  3. Move down through the menu using touchpad.
  4. Click on a sensitive menu item.

  Actual results:
  3. The first sensitive item is highlighted, but (usually) none of the other
sensitive items are.
  4. The item is highlighted only once you click it.

  Expected results:
  Highlight should follow the mouse

This is not specific to menu items.
