Not working network connection after boot

Status in NetworkManager:

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Directly after boot the network connections are not working. I am
connected and have an IP address, but I cannot establish a connection
  with any Internet server.

I have the impression it is related to thee DNS lookup, which waits
  forever for a result.

Cycling the connection (disconnect->reconnect) seems to fix the
  problem for some time.

I am reporting this against network-manager, but I am not sure if it is
directly in network manager or if it is systemd related.
  With 14.10 everything worked perfectly.

Seems to affect me on Ubuntu 16.04. Also I don't think that's a GNOME
problem as I use KDE.

I'm having trouble with a combination of NVIDIA + Python + Qt +

I tried using a QGraphicsView on a QGLWidget. I'm getting a white window and
errors like this these:
  QGLShader: could not create shader
  Vertex shader for simpleShaderProg (MainVertexShader
) failed to compile

This is an example application triggering the problem:
  http://pastebin.com/R0aa8ejs

The 'same' program works flawlessly when using C++/Qt. I'm seeing the exact
behavior when using PySide instead of PyQt4 by the way. I'm also seeing this
error when trying the original demo application from python-qt4-doc. Also,
calling
  QtGui.QApplication.setGraphicsSystem("opengl")
  produces the same errors.

I'm experiencing this problems on 11.10 and 12.04 with the ubuntu-
provided nvidia drivers (where 12.04 includes the most recent driver
for now). After installing the driver using the original NVidia
installer, the applications work as expected.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1586962] Re: Impossible to select screen rate

2016-07-31 Thread Ilya Bizyaev
No, an option for that could not "always be" just because of this bug report:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=655041
It was created in 2011, and people are still experiencing issues now (last
meaasge: 2016-07-16 14:24:06 UTC).
I attach a screenshot of the display settings window.
I have changed the resolution using this settings once, and since that GNOME
sets the screen rate to maximum, which causes alignment problems on my monitor
(multiple people experience the same issue on GNOME Bugzilla). So, I have to
add an xrandr command to autostart.
As this question suggests, there is no better way since 2012!
http://askubuntu.com/questions/147580/how-to-see-change-screen-refresh-rate-or-monitor-frequency
So please, don't redirect the issue.

  Login Successful, Desktop Never Loads

Status in at-spi2-core package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Here is what I encounter
  1. Boot computer, boot proceeds normally
  2. Reach standard Ubuntu login screen, nothing seems to be amiss
  3. Enter user name and password
  4. Login disappears, just see the pink "Ubuntu 14.04" background

The desktop never loads, not even after ~30 minutes. The launcher
never appears, and the Desktop background never changes to the user-
  configured background.

  Other features:
  * Cursor works fine, it can be moved around the screen
  * No error messages pop up
  * ALT+F1 etc. can be used to switch to different TTYs; all files on the
system appear to be intact
  * Print screen button works (I will upload a screen shot when I get a chance
to copy it onto a USB drive)
  * Hitting power button pops up a window prompting the user to decide whether
to shut down
  * CTRL+ALT+DELETE prompts the user to log out
  * Desktop does not load on any user accounts, including the guest account

This bug makes it completely impossible to launch Budgie Desktop under a
guest user. The load gets stuck, and even if you kill the at-spi-bus-
launcher process, you are thrown away to the login screen.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1285444] Re: Login Successful, Desktop Never Loads

Sure. Here it is.

Title:
  Login Successful, Desktop Never Loads

Status in at-spi2-core package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Here is what I encounter
  1. Boot computer, boot proceeds normally
  2. Reach standard Ubuntu login screen, nothing seems to be amiss
  3. Enter user name and password
  4. Login disappears, just see the pink "Ubuntu 14.04" background

The desktop never loads, not even after ~30 minutes. The launcher
never appears, and the Desktop background never changes to the user-
  configured background.

  Other features:
  * Cursor works fine, it can be moved around the screen
  * No error messages pop up
  * ALT+F1 etc. can be used to switch to different TTYs; all files on the
system appear to be intact
  * Print screen button works (I will upload a screen shot when I get a chance
to copy it onto a USB drive)
  * Hitting power button pops up a window prompting the user to decide whether
to shut down
  * CTRL+ALT+DELETE prompts the user to log out
  * Desktop does not load on any user accounts, including the guest account

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1285444] Re: Login Successful, Desktop Never Loads

2016-04-29 Thread Ilya Bizyaev
The bug seems to depend on ~/.config/dconf/user, removing which fixes the
problem for a couple of boots.
But that's still an awful bug, making it impossible to use Ubuntu for those who
don't know how to deal with the command line.
