[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1776978] [NEW] Update to calendar invitations cannot be processes

2018-06-14 Thread Jürgen Kübler
Public bug reported:

I am using a caldav calendar on a synology NAS and observed issues with
calendar invitations I previously received. When I open one of these events I
get the warning 'Event cannot be fully edited, because you are not the
organizer' which I can live with. However, I cannot process any update I
receive to these invitation.
The calendar entry is identified. Message:
Found the appointment in the calendar “myCal”
When I click on 'Accept' I get the message:
Unable to send item to calendar “mycal”. Cannot receive calendar objects:
Failed to put data: HTTP error code 412 (Precondition Failed): Existing
resource matches "If-None-Match" header - not accepted.[if-none-match]
and the event remains unchanged.

Updates are both possible with Thunderbird on the same machine and on my
iPhone

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1723080] Re: Caldav Issues with evolution 3.26

2018-05-12 Thread Jürgen Kübler
Hi Kirk,
I found a solution. The issue seems to be an outdated version of caldav used
for Synology's webdav server. Here is what I did
- Expert calendar and tasks list (separately) to ics files
- Deactivate caldav in the webdav server
- Installed the new calendar application in my Diskstation
(https://www.synology.com/en-global/dsm/feature/calendar)
- Create a new calendar (not that you cannot delete the default calendar 'my
calendar', which can be anoying)
- Imported the calendar via web interface
- Created new calendar and task list in evolution
- Used evolution to import task list
Somewhat cumbersome but it worked. Two positive side effects:
- It was easy to implement separate calendars for 'home' and 'work'
- The new calendar better integrates with my iPhone. I can now invite others
to appointments from my iPhone. This option was not available with the
previous solution.
Hope this helps.
Best,
Jürgen

  Caldav Issues with evolution 3.26

Status in evolution package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I noticed a series of issues with caldav when switching to Ubuntu
17.10. Everthing works fine with Ubuntu GNOME 17.04.

  Error message during ics import:
"Cannot receive calendar objects: Failed to put data: HTTP error code 201
(Created): The server responded with an HTML page, which can mean there’s an
error on the server or with the client request."
The import successfully finished regardless. It's still a nuisance.

Attempts to pick a date (calendar entry and tasks) are followed by the
message:
  "Evolution want to inhibit shortcuts.
You can restore shortcuts by pressing Shift-Ctrl-Escape"

Creating new tasks: Same error message as for ics import. Tasks are
only stored when date *and* time are specified. Error message needs to
be ignored and window to be close with 'discard changes'.

Update of calender appointments (external): just does not work

Could not test handling of confirmations of meeting invites, yet

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1723080] Re: Caldav Issues with evolution 3.26

2018-05-08 Thread Jürgen Kübler
I have a suspicion that I cannot verify, though. It might be that the new
version of evolution is not backward compatible with older caldav
specifications.
I stopped using evolution and use Thunderbird and Lightning. There are some
glitches but overall it works.

2017-10-31 Thread Jürgen Kübler
Received a response from bugzi...@gnome.org. Basically a complain about
not filing the bug report correctly and a request for further
information that goes beyond my level of expertise as end user.

Advise like

"Also see https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Evolution/Debugging#CalDAV how to provide
debug output which would be needed here."

is not helpful to me.

I can't help here, anymore and will stop using bugzilla for gnome.org

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1723080] [NEW] Caldav Issues with evolution 3.26

2017-10-12 Thread Jürgen Kübler
Public bug reported:

I noticed a series of issues with caldav when switching to Ubuntu
17.10. Everthing works fine with Ubuntu GNOME 17.04.

Error message during ics import:
"Cannot receive calendar objects: Failed to put data: HTTP error code 201
(Created): The server responded with an HTML page, which can mean there’s an
error on the server or with the client request."
The import successfully finished regardless. It's still a nuisance.

Attempts to pick a date (calendar entry and tasks) are followed by the message:
"Evolution want to inhibit shortcuts.
You can restore shortcuts by pressing Shift-Ctrl-Escape"

Creating new tasks: Same error message as for ics import. Tasks are
only stored when date *and* time are specified. Error message needs to
be ignored and window to be close with 'discard changes'.

Update of calender appointments (external): just does not work

Could not test handling of confirmations of meeting invites, yet

** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Tags: gnome-17.10
