[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1765911] Re: Major performance regression from Ubuntu 17.10 with i915
UPDATE: I installed kernel 4.16.7 from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/ and things get much better. Not as good as it was on 17.10 but largely usable. Some regression in the i915 driver must have occurred in 4.15 and now it's catching up again apparently. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1765911 Title: Major performance regression from Ubuntu 17.10 with i915 Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Desktop performance on my laptop (Intel HD 520, driver: i915) used to be generally good on previous Ubuntu releases but on 18.04, there is a VERY noticeable regression. Moving windows around in GNOME is choppy and tearing. It gets dramatic after the laptop resumes from suspend, GNOME drops to literally ~1-2 FPS. Logging out and restarting the session usually fixes the problem in that it restores the barely acceptable performance level prior to suspend. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1765911] [NEW] Major performance regression from Ubuntu 17.10 with i915
Public bug reported: Desktop performance on my laptop (Intel HD 520, driver: i915) used to be generally good on previous Ubuntu releases but on 18.04, there is a VERY noticeable regression. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1245097] Re: "Internal data flow error" playing dvds
I'm having the same problem with real (physical) dvds. They used to play fine in Ubuntu 13.04 and VLC plays them without problems as well. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to totem in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1245097 Title: "Internal data flow error" playing dvds Status in “totem” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Since upgrading to saucy salamander, with totem 3.8.2-0ubuntu1, I have errors playing DVDs. They start playing, but after a little while, I get the "Internal data flow error" and playback stops. This didn't happen before upgrading ubuntu. The dvds are actually iso files created with ddrescue, but I don't expect that would change things. The same files play without problem in mplayer. I am having a similar problem and none of the suggested fixes worked for me. It seems to be an ALSA-related bug as I eventually noticed that the output from alsa-info is different before sleeping and after resuming (see attached). ** Attachment added: "after-wakeup.alsainfo" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/661640/+attachment/3439919/+files/after-wakeup.alsainfo -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/661640 Title: no sound after resume from suspend [Conexant ID 2c06] PA test tone failed (alsa tone succeeded) Status in “pulseaudio” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: pulseaudio Before suspending my laptop, sound sent to my external monitor via HDMI works perfectly.
