[Desktop-packages] [Bug 853061] [NEW] New Open with in right click dialogue box does not allow custom commands

2011-09-18 Thread James Pursey
Public bug reported:

Hi

I dnn't know if this is a bug or a feature request. But it seems to me to be an
oversight, and so I'm posting it as a bug.
I have found the new Open with... option when right clicking a program has
become too watered down, to the point that it sometimes becomes useless. In
11.10 there is the new Find applications online option. Fair enough, this is
a feature that was already incorporated in Windows XP and it might be time to
have it in Ubuntu. The trouble is, though, that if the online search is
unfruitful, and the application doesn't appear in the list when pressing the
button Show other applications it is now not possible for the average person
to association an executable programme with an application. For example, I have
installed the Atari800 emulator. If I download a game, right click the game and
look for Atari800 in the list of applications, I do not find it: and the Find
applications online function doesnt find any programme to run with it either.
The trouble is that there is no longer a Launch custom command option, nor
the possibility of navigating to the application with Nautilus and clicking on
the application once found.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10
Package: nautilus 1:3.1.90-0ubuntu3
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-11.18-generic 3.0.4
Uname: Linux 3.0.0-11-generic x86_64
NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx
ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu1
Architecture: amd64
Date: Sun Sep 18 09:29:06 2011
ProcEnviron:
 PATH=(custom, no user)
 LANG=en_US.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: nautilus
UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install)

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 843821] [NEW] Media player cannot be closed

2011-09-07 Thread James Pursey
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I have found that the libreoffice media player cannot be closed once opened.
Usually, there is no close button on the top panel. Closing Libreoffice does
not correct this issue - when the application is launched again, the media
player opens with it and cannot be closed. Possible steps to verify this bug:
Open the media player (for example, press the Gallery button, then choose
Sounds, then double click any sound file.
The media player should then open. It cannot be closed.
Close Libreoffice, then re-open
LibreOffice opens with media media player which still cannot be closed.

Package: libreoffice (not installed)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 843821] Re: Media player cannot be closed

2011-09-07 Thread James Pursey
Update: eventually managed to close it. I think the trick is to scale
the two windows, which makes the button appear in the media player. At
first this button won't operate, but when I dragged the window to the
centre of the screen it worked.
