[Desktop-packages] [Bug 883393] [NEW] If battery is under 5%, gnome-power-manager reports that the battery isn't present

2011-10-29 Thread Jamie Fell
Public bug reported:

Hi, I put the charger in my laptop to charge it up from literally zilch.
Starting up, I found that the battery indicator said (not present).
The power stats repeated this in a more technical way, even though iIt
was about 3%. I headed into Windows and Windows said it was on 3%, not
that it wasn't present.

Linux Mint 11 notification error on startup

Status in “gnome-panel” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
on Linux mint 11 the main version, from the first start-up after
installing an error pops up saying something about a notification
error and asks if you want to delete it or not delete it. it leaves
icons missing in the panel bar too. This bug happens every time you
start up. I think it happens more frequently on machines I have
installed it on where there was no internet connection available
  during installation.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 120258] Re: Laptop Battery Time Remaining Outrageously Inaccurate

2011-10-22 Thread Jamie Fell
Is this STILL going on in Oneiric? What's taking so long? It comes up on
my HP G61 laptop that there is 6 minutes remaining when there's actually
still 90% left.

** Changed in: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete = Confirmed

  Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn

Hardware is HP Pavilion DV1000 series (specific DV1588EA)

Battery monitor when running on battery reports percentage of battery
remaining correctly, but the corresponding remaining time is often
fabulously wrong (and can swing between e.g a few minutes to tens of
hours in the blink of an eye). /* What I wouldn't give for batteries
that can last 14 hours between charges... */

It looks for all the world like the underlying values are being held
in storage classes which are too small or where value-wrapping is not
  being handled quite right...

BTW UBUNTU is fantastic; I'm a convert! Keep up the good work!

If so many people are being affected by this bug, then this bug
shouldn't be incomplete. I'm marking this as confirmed.
