[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1648846] Re: Chromium ignores no_proxy environment variable

2018-03-12 Thread JanCeuleers
I cannot reproduce the issue at present.
But it's strange that I encountered a problem in 2016 which was fixed upstream
in 2009.
Anyway, let's close this for now.

  [Impact]

   * Checks for apt updates using apt or apt-get also update the
appstream cache. Some of the appstream metadata installed locally
isn't strictly valid as it's missing two fields.

  [Test Case]

   * fwupdmgr refresh
   * apt update
   * check for errors about metadata being ignored

  [Regression Potential]

   * This is just changing the XML metadata locally, I don't see any
  regression potential.

major and several minor releases behind upstream.

I'm filing this in my capacity as the upstream maintainer. The very old
sources used by Debian are becoming a problem also for us, since it
makes a substantial part of the user base using sources we don't
maintain any more.

I'm perfectly aware that the decision to update, to what and when, is up
to the Debian maintainers. That said, if I as the upstream could make
anything to make an update easier, please let me know.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 496681] Re: Rhythmbox does not save playlist on iPod

2012-06-24 Thread JanCeuleers
@cometdog: In the iPod's Sync menu, first disable syncing with all of
your playlists. Sync. Then re-enable syncing with all of your playlists
and sync again. That did it for me (Rhythmbox 2.96 on Ubuntu 12.04 and a
30GB 4th-gen iPod).

this bug seems to be similar to bug #117925 which was set to 'Fix

  1. playlist: when moving a file to the playlist which is already on
the iPod I can see it there, but when syncing/ejecting the iPod it
looses the playlist and it's content.

  2. copying a song/file from the musik folder via drag&drop directly to
a iPod-playlist does not work at all. it looks like it works, because
a + is on the icon but when checking the playlist no song is there. I
would expect the song to be on the iPod and in the playlist where I
  draged it to.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 989532] [NEW] Thunderbird does not connect to POP nor SMTP servers

2012-04-27 Thread JanCeuleers
Public bug reported:

Thunderbird fails to connect to the POP and SMTP servers. These servers
reside on the same subnet. There are no error messages to speak of; the
connections just time out.

This is not a firewall problem. I have verified that I can connect to
the POP and SMTP servers using telnet. I did this from a terminal window
on the same machine and as the same user as the one that cannot get
Thunderbird to work, using commands like telnet popserver 110 and telnet
smtpserver 25.

Tracing with tcpdump confirms that no traffic is actually exchanged with
the servers: there is no attempt at establishing a TCP connection.

This is with Thunderbird freshly installed on Precise. It was not
installed prior to the upgrade to Precise. There was no .thunderbird
directory in my home directory. I was using Seamonkey before the upgrade
and got Thunderbird to import everything from Seamonkey upon first use.

servers reside on the same subnet. There are no error messages to
speak of; the connections just time out.

This is not a firewall problem. I have verified that I can connect to
the POP and SMTP servers using telnet. I did this from a terminal
window on the same machine and as the same user as the one that cannot
get Thunderbird to work, using commands like telnet popserver 110 and
  telnet smtpserver 25.

Tracing with tcpdump confirms that no traffic is actually exchanged
with the servers: there is no attempt at establishing a TCP
  connection.

This is with Thunderbird freshly installed on Precise. It was not
installed prior to the upgrade to Precise. There was no .thunderbird
directory in my home directory. I was using Seamonkey before the
upgrade and got Thunderbird to import everything from Seamonkey upon
  first use.
