[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1767536] Re: Accessing the WIFI section of the "Settings" window causes massive freezes
I notice that if I launch gnome-control-center from the command line with the "--verbose" option, when I'm on the WiFi tab it prints out all SSIDs available at extremely high speeds. It seems like maybe the periodic scan of networks is happening far too quickly. When I switch to a different tab there is a message about disabling periodic scanning, and suddenly the CPU usage drops dramatically and everything seems to work. I also notice that if I use "rfkill" to disable WiFi, and then run gnome-control-center I can't reproduce the high CPU usage. I'm attaching a snippet of the printouts that are coming on the WiFi tab. Notice it is printing about 2000 messages per second. ** Attachment added: "ssid_print_snippet.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1767536/+attachment/5200658/+files/ssid_print_snippet.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1767536 Title: Accessing the WIFI section of the "Settings" window causes massive freezes Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Accessing the Wi-Fi section of the "Settings" window causes huge, 5-20 seconds freezes of the window. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1041874]
I agree with Vincent, making the dead area truly dead would significantly improve the usability. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1028681] Re: ghostscript 9.05 fails with preview-latex and auctex
Removing ghostscript 8.70, and using 9.05~dfsg-0ubuntu4.2 from the 12.04 repositories, and then following the suggestion of @lorenzo worked for me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to auctex in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1028681 Title: ghostscript 9.05 fails with preview-latex and auctex Status in “auctex” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: This is not the same as this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ghostscript/+bug/543266 The error in this bug is reported as: Error: /invalidfileaccess in --file-- It is the same as the bug mentioned here: http://email.esm.psu.edu/pipermail/macosx-emacs/2011-January/002566.html and here: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-auctex/2010-10/msg00016.html I was able to fix this by downgrading to ghostscript 8.70.
