[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1767536] Re: Accessing the WIFI section of the "Settings" window causes massive freezes

2018-10-13 Thread Jarvis Schultz
I notice that if I launch gnome-control-center from the command line
with the "--verbose" option, when I'm on the WiFi tab it prints out all
SSIDs available at extremely high speeds. It seems like maybe the
periodic scan of networks is happening far too quickly. When I switch to
a different tab there is a message about disabling periodic scanning,
and suddenly the CPU usage drops dramatically and everything seems to
work. I also notice that if I use "rfkill" to disable WiFi, and then run
gnome-control-center I can't reproduce the high CPU usage.

I'm attaching a snippet of the printouts that are coming on the WiFi
tab. Notice it is printing about 2000 messages per second.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1041874]

2014-08-28 Thread Jarvis Schultz
I agree with Vincent, making the dead area truly dead would
significantly improve the usability. Where should we look to try and add
this feature?

Status in “xserver-xorg-input-synaptics” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
I cannot touch nor click one area of the clickpad and use another finger to

I have checked man synaptics and the arch linux wiki about this, but nothing
creates a multi-touch environment.
Without this functionality, I am completely unable to drag and drop items
with ease.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1028681] Re: ghostscript 9.05 fails with preview-latex and auctex

2012-11-05 Thread Jarvis Schultz
Removing ghostscript 8.70, and using 9.05~dfsg-0ubuntu4.2 from the 12.04
repositories, and then following the suggestion of @lorenzo worked for
me.

ghostscript 9.05 fails with preview-latex and auctex

Status in “auctex” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
This is not the same as this bug:
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ghostscript/+bug/543266

The error in this bug is reported as:

  Error: /invalidfileaccess in --file--

It is the same as the bug mentioned here:
http://email.esm.psu.edu/pipermail/macosx-emacs/2011-January/002566.html
  and here: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-auctex/2010-10/msg00016.html

I was able to fix this by downgrading to ghostscript 8.70. Note that
8.71 has a different bug in it that produces an error that says

  Error /undefined in copy_trailer_attrs

  (as reported here: https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?29023)
