I was habitually doing a `killall pulseaudio` after login to get rid of this problem. About 4-6 weeks ago, again after a kernel update, the problem went away altogether. As the OP, I'm happy to say it's not a bug anymore. This bug affects me (on Compaq-Presario-CQ41). It's annoying, because sometimes it will say time till battery is empty is 0min and then hibernate my computer even though my batter has 30% charge left.
