[Desktop-packages] [Bug 845280] Re: update-software-center crashed with AttributeError in __init__(): type object 'File' has no attribute 'new_for_path'

2011-09-19 Thread Jacob Johan Edwards
Hello, I believe this is a dependency bug, cased by an old `python-
gobject` package. If you `dist-upgrade` USC should resume working as
normal. Is that correct?

  Or (from test case sc-003):

  1. Choose "View" > "All Software".
  2. From the "All Software" menu in the navigation bar, choose "Provided by

What happens: For a couple of seconds, nothing.

What should happen: As with USC 4.x, there should be a spinner
centered in the main pane, to show that it hasn't frozen.

(The "Loading" text used in USC 4.x isn't necessary -- just the
  spinner by itself.)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 828092] Re: [GTK3] Navigation bar is ugly in Radiance and other light themes

2011-08-25 Thread Jacob Johan Edwards
Hello,

Unfortunately, USC's custom GlobalPane widget packs some very
specialized behavior that will be impossible to port to Gtk.Toolbar for
UI freeze.

If we ship a theme switcher, I'd be willing to hack a provisional kludge
to fix the toolbar's symbolic icon rendering. For now, I think looking
decent for Radiance is an okay place to be.

  1. Launch USC.
  2. Using gnome-tweak-tool or similar, switch to the Radiance theme (or any
similar light theme, such as Raleigh), and the corresponding ubuntu-mono-light
icon theme.

  What happens:
  A. The edges of USC's Back and Forward buttons are hard to see.
  B. The section buttons ("All Software", "Installed", "History" etc) have
unnecessary black borders.
  C. The button for the current section has an odd shiny background.
  D. The section button icons are grey on grey.
  E. The section button text is grey on grey.

This bug is Low importance if bug 828073 will not be fixed, but High
  importance if it will be.

Hello, r2208 fixed the hatching.

problem.

Bug description:

It wasn't obvious from the mockup (for which I'm sorry), but the
hatching in the navigation bar for Ubuntu Software Center was intended
only as an experiment to see whether that pattern would be suitable
for Ambiance toolbars in general. The theme designers have decided
against it. So, it's not urgent, but the hatching should be removed
  from USC.

It may save time to fix bug 828092 at the same time as this bug. In
that bug report, Jeremy Bicha suggests using the primary-toolbar
  class.

Hello there,

The Software Center pulls this metadata from `josm` package itself and
includes it in `app-install-data-ubuntu`. To fix this issue, correct the
following line in "josm.desktop" in the `josm` deb.

This change will land in USC the next time we rebuild `app-install-data-

2011-08-21 Thread Johan Boss
Is it just me or is this working in 11.04? Thinking you may mark this
bug as fixed.

Title:
'Personal Information -> Alias' is immutable for MSN

Status in telepathy-butterfly:
  Confirmed
Status in “telepathy-butterfly” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: empathy

Settings in "Personal Information -> Alias" for a msn account doesn't
persist. If you close and restart empathy the old one is restored.

  Solution:
  1. close empathy
  2. start pidgin (or another msn client)
  3. change the alias
  4. close the other-msn-client
  5. launch empathy
  6. the alias is set as I did in pidgin

  Version: 2.25.2-2ubuntu1~ppa8.10+1
