[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1879132] [NEW] flatpaks not in search results when snap plugin is installed

2020-05-17 Thread Johannes Rohr
Public bug reported:

without the snap plugin being installed, a search for e.g. zoom,
telegram or signal returns the respective flatpaks. With the snap plugin
installed, all flatpak results are suddenly hidden, I get *only* snap
results for the same searches. Flatpaks only appear in the "installed"
tab. Whether or not this is no purpose, this is inconvenient. You don't
what to have two different app stores (gnome-software and snap-store)
installed in parallel, when a single one could be doing the job.

** Affects: gnome-software (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

2019-04-23 Thread Johannes Rohr
I upgraded both machines from Cosmic to Disco. In both instances, the
menu item was there before and was gone after the upgrade.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 951555] Re: When using lightdm X starts in low-graphics-mode

2012-08-21 Thread Johannes Rohr
Indeed, this issue is caused by wrong permissions.

in /var/lib/lightdm/x-0-greeter.log it said:

** (process:2235): WARNING **: Error reading existing Xauthority: Error opening
file: Permission denied
Error writing X authority: Error opening file '/var/lib/lightdm/.Xauthority':
Permission denied

And indeed, For some unkown reason, the files in /var/lib/ligthdm were
owned by user speech-dispacher, group rtkit. After changing the owner of
the files inside the directory to lightdm:lightdm, things work just
fine.
