  frequent crashes during boot on Ryzen 3 2200G

Bug description:
  Most of the time when booting Ubuntu 18.04 (beta) on my recently bought Ryzen 
3 2200 G (Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. MS-7A34/B350 PC MATE (MS-7A34), 
BIOS A.C0 03/08/2018) computer it crashes. 
  Sometimes it boots OK and I do not encounter (major) problems (see below).

  Booting in recovery mode works fine (always, as far as I can tell) but
  then I get only 1024x768 graphics.

  When it hangs during boot, I sometimes see a message: 
  fb: switching to amdgpudrmfb from EFI VGA.

  When boots OK and seems to work OK I frequently see messages in the dmesg 
output:
