[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1105774] [NEW] pulseaudio fails to start with no reason
Public bug reported: I have two desktops, Unity and KDE, in KDE pulseaudio starts without problems, but when I end session in KDE and begin it with Unity, then pulseaudio fails to start, I have sound in KDE even in lightdm, but not in Unity, this lack of sound makes Unity experience to suck at all. Why pulseaudio cannot start when I log on with Unity? When I try to start it manually it just drops this message: E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Falló el inicio del demonio. The same message when I logon: Jan 26 00:33:00 64-desktop pulseaudio[25578]: [pulseaudio] module-udev-detect.c: inotify_init1() failed: Demasiados archivos abiertos Jan 26 00:33:00 64-desktop pulseaudio[25578]: [pulseaudio] module.c: Failed to load module "module-udev-detect" (argument: ""): initialization failed. Jan 26 00:33:00 64-desktop pulseaudio[25575]: [pulseaudio] main.c: Falló el inicio del demonio. If the problem is with udev, why it fails with Unity, and not in KDE?. I actually have sound, but not trough pulseaudio; the speaker icon in the system tray shows disabled and I don't have login sound, I know it is disabled by default, I enabled it, so I expect to hear login sound and have pulseaudio working. I noticed this problem with pulseaudio since an upgrade that the system made automatically on January 18, these packages: Start-Date: 2013-01-18 10:24:02 Install: linux-headers-3.2.0-36:amd64 (3.2.0-36.57, automatic), linux-image-3.2.0-36-generic:amd64 (3.2.0-36.57), linux-headers-3.2.0-36-generic:amd64 (3.2.0-36.57, automatic) Upgrade: linux-generic:amd64 (3.2.0.35.40, 3.2.0.36.43), x11proto-gl-dev:amd64 (1.4.14-2, 1.4.16-1~precise1), linux-headers-generic:amd64 (3.2.0.35.40, 3.2.0.36.43), linux-image-generic:amd64 (3.2.0.35.40, 3.2.0.36.43), linux-libc-dev:amd64 (3.2.0-35.55, 3.2.0-36.57), x11proto-dri2-dev:amd64 (2.6-2, 2.8-1~precise1) End-Date: 2013-01-18 10:30:02 I personally can't find any relation of these packages with pulseaudio, but after I installed the new kernel, pulseaudio sucks when I log on with Unity. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1105774] Re: hda-intel: spurious response and pulseaudio fails to start with no reason
I managed to reproduce this bug again, it seems that I don't have the chance to restart sessions (100% functional, with pulseuadio runnign) the times I want, as before of course. It happens to me random, I repeat I have sound through my sound card but not pulseaudio. I attach the output of "pulseaudio -", It seems that something in udev is misbehaving, I don't have an idea of why, but that's the reason that the pulseaudio daemon fails, and there is no way to bring it back to life. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1105774 Title: hda-intel: spurious response and pulseaudio fails to start with no reason Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have two desktops, Unity and KDE, in KDE pulseaudio starts without problems, but when I end session in KDE and begin it with Unity, then pulseaudio fails to start, I have sound in KDE even in lightdm, but not in Unity, this lack of sound makes Unity experience to suck at all. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 786718] Re: Clicking links in other applications causes Firefox to open new window, doesn't load page
I have Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit Firefox 12.0 12.0+build1-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 And firefox can't open links from external applications, any application, firefox is uncapable to load a webpage from a link in an external application. First I got the very ANNOYING apport windows, I wanted to report a bug, it opened firefox but it opened the startpage and NOT the Launchpad page, I think -Oh! it may be a problem with apport... then I knew that firefox is the problem, because later with an email I was reading in thunderbird, i clicked in a link just to see the webpage, then a firefox window appeared but with the startpage instead of the webpage in the link I clicked. Well after these I deactivated the Ubuntu modifications plugin in firefox, I tried to file a bug with apport and voila! the firefox home page! It behaved the same with a link in thunderbird. firefox 12 or at least the firefox 12 in precise packaging is uncapable to open webpages from external links. And well... you know guys why I can't use apport to file new bugs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/786718 Title: Clicking links in other applications causes Firefox to open new window, doesn't load page Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: firefox Since I upgraded from Maverick to Natty, Firefox will no longer load webpages when links are clicked in an external application. Rather than the page being loaded in a new tab (after starting Firefox if necessary), it opens a new window and displays the default homepage. The exception seems to be clicking links in Thunderbird, whereupon Firefox tries to load http://www.%f.com/ in a new tab (or window if not already running). The only work around for this seems to be copying links and pasting them into Firefox's address bar. I'd use the new 'ubuntu-bug -w' method of reporting a bug, but as it requires opening the web browser after the report is generated, the chances are good that it might not work. I'll supply other information if necessary (and if I can figure out how to get the required information). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 935599] [NEW] nautilus menubar still is displayed on top of the screen
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 826771 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/826771 Public bug reported: The automatic upgrade system adviced me about many software updates, in these updates I found a nautilus update in which the problem with the nautilus menubar displayed on top of the screen in non Unity sessions, like Gnome-shell is been fixed, but no, I still have this menu bar when I use a transparent panel in a gnome-shell theme. I was fortunate in the past, because I never had this bar in gnome-shell neither in cinnamon before this update, but after the nautilus upadte I have this menubar on top. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 997248] Re: Inconsistency in decimal point for es_MX and es_NI locale
Oh my god.. I reported this almost two years ago.. and nobody is willing to fix this... but by myself I don't use Ubuntu nor Gnome anyway... both have this problem KDE not. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to langpack-locales in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/997248 Title: Inconsistency in decimal point for es_MX and es_NI locale Status in The GNU C Library: Confirmed Status in “langpack-locales” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: In México we use the point as decimal separator and the comma to separate thousands, But in the es_MX locale in Ubuntu precise it is set as in Europe; In System configuration> Language Support > Regional Formats I found in the example that the character that separates the thousands and millions is the point (.) and the one that separates the decimals is the comma (,) and that's incorrect for México, See attachment. This problem is seen when I try to use the calculator, or other gnome program that involves math, it's confusing.
