What is expected: To have only one network tray icon whatever the way the desktop is started. Description: The miniapplication indicator's preference have two options: sound menu and application's indicator, the last show the network icon, as well as other indicators (I use Clipit and Multiload), so if unchecked it will hide those as well besides the network one. There is another tray panel for notification area, bringing energy icon, and network again. This panel has no preference, so, if disabled will hide both icons. I noticed that depending on how fast you boot your desktop, or if you installed with the option not to ask the password on login enabled, it may, sometimes, appear to be correct, with one single network icon. If nm-applet is killed and then relaunched it seems to fix the problem, but it's a workaround, it should not be the default behaviour. The real solution: remove the indicataor applet from the panel. I tested some more JPG images from two different Android smartphones and I experiencing the same problem. These smartphones were upgraded some weeks ago and I think the problem is related to its Android version. Old JPG images are ok, but newer not. Using Lubuntu i386 daily build downloaded approx 36hours ago.
In documenting a separate bug, I took a photo via the inbuilt camera
in my Nokia dumbphone. Low-res, small image size. Transferred from
phone & saved to desktop.
Opening that JPG in Image Viewer brings up the error message "Error
interpreting JPEG image file (Application transferred too few
scanlines)", yet the image is perfectly viewable in Firefox.
Have attached the JPG in question to this bug report - the contents of
this photo are also relevant to Bug 1747341.

We migrated all the computers to Lubuntu (Ubuntu + LXDE) 16.04 64 bit. The problem is solved for us. We had the problem with Lubuntu 14.04 32 & 64 bit with kernel enablement stack. About my comments #261 & #262 I have problems with Google Chrome if I remove xserver-org-video-all (in my case xserver-xorg-video-all-lts-xenial) packages. Chrome works very slow and many times I'v got error application at startup. Reinstalling the packages solves the problem with Chrome. The use of this driver is discouraged if your hw is new enough (ca. 2007 and newer). Tried with gnome-screensaver and xscreensaver They work. I think the problem is light-locker I'm trying to replace light-locker with one of them (at startup and preferences menu). I confirm (that for me) the problem is proxy.pac related.
Up to now, I denied the access to www.mysite.com/proxy.pac for when
users are outside, with their netbooks.
My Apache .htaccess looked like:
Files proxy.pac
Order Deny,Allow
Deny from All
Allow from 192.168.0.0/16
/Files
This worked for Chromium+IcedTea but not for Firefox+IcedTea.
Finally I had to use a new .htaccess like:
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REMOTE_ADDR} !^192\.168\.
RewriteRule proxy\.pac$ http://www.mysite.com/direct.pac [R=301,L]
where direct.pac is:
function FindProxyForURL(url, host) {

}
Finally, Chromium+IcedTea don't understand the possibility to return
more than a proxy (or proxy fail).
I had a proxy.pac ending by:
return PROXY 192.168.0.3:8080; DIRECT;
and I had to put:
return PROXY 192.168.0.3:8080;

I run a simple Java program (a runnable jar file). The Java program
code is as following

My JRE (yes, JRE, not JDK) is Oracle JRE 1.6.0_38.
What the program does is essentially opening
http://javatester.org/version.html in Firefox. This website has a
small Java applet, so performance won't be a problem. What happens
then is that, Firefox is opened, http://javatester.org/version.html is
opened, BUT the applet inside the website FAILS to play. The same
thing happens if my Java program opens any other website which has
applet.
However, if I run firefox http://javatester.org/version.html; from
command line, everything works perfectly. Similarly, if I open
Firefox, then I type http://javatester.org/version.html at the URL
field, everything also works perfectly.
This problem happens in Firefox, but NOT in Chromium (which I
installed from your standard repository).
This problem doesn't happen in Oracle Linux distro. I haven't tried in
other Linux distros, though.

Hi Support Team,
I run a simple Java program (a runnable jar file). The Java program
code is as following
import java.io.IOException;
public class Main {
public static void main(String args[]) throws IOException {
//this website has a small Java applet inside
Runtime.getRuntime.exec(firefox
http://javatester.org/version.html;);
System.out.println(hello world);
}
}
My JRE (yes, JRE, not JDK) is Oracle JRE 1.6.0_38.
What the program does is essentially opening
http://javatester.org/version.html in Firefox. This website has a
small Java applet, so performance won't be a problem. What happens
then is that, Firefox is opened, http://javatester.org/version.html is
opened, BUT the applet inside the website FAILS to play. The same
thing happens if my Java program opens any other website which has
applet.
However, if I run firefox http://javatester.org/version.html; from
command line, everything works perfectly. Similarly, if I open
Firefox, then I type http://javatester.org/version.html at the URL
field, everything also works perfectly.
This problem happens in Firefox, but NOT in Chromium (which I
installed from your standard repository).
This problem doesn't happen in Oracle Linux distro. I haven't tried in
other Linux distros, though.

Updated system yesterday (12.04 LTS 32 bit), with Firefox 23.0.
I still having the problem.
Example: http://tube.geogebra.org/student/m7399
It works using Chromium, but not using Firefox.
And everything it works with my desktop system (12.04 LTS 64 bit).

I found that the problem is related to (use a java script to configure)
a proxy server or not.
At Firefox I have a Java detecting proxy sequence such
http://www.mywebsite.com/proxy.pac
If I use this sequence, Java Applets doesn't work. If I manually
configure Firefox for not using the sequence, applets work.
And...
chromium-browser --proxy-pac-url=http://www.mywebsite.com/proxy.pac %u
doesn't have this problem!
Now I remember that with WinXP workstations I had to configure Oracle
Java for use http://www.mywebsite.com/proxy.pac
I will look for similar workaround about Iced-Tea-Plugin...

These buttons work fine in Windows, but not in Ubuntu 12.04. The buttons are part of the trackpad itself so I think that might be part of the problem (similar to a mac touchpad). Thanks! With your recommendation I had the following idea: Ctl+Alt+F1 login sudo start ligthdm Ctl+Alt+F1 logout Ctl+Alt+F7 It works. I did'nt need to modify grub. What the program does is essentially opening

small Java applet, so performance won't be a problem. What happens
then is that, Firefox is opened, http://javatester.org/version.html is
opened, BUT the applet inside the website FAILS to play. The same
thing happens if my Java program opens any other website which has
applet.
However, if I run firefox http://javatester.org/version.html; from
command line, everything works perfectly. Similarly, if I open
Firefox, then I type http://javatester.org/version.html at the URL
field, everything also works perfectly.
This problem happens in Firefox, but NOT in Chromium (which I
installed from your standard repository).
This problem doesn't happen in Oracle Linux distro. I haven't tried in
other Linux distros, though.

We have more than 300 notebooks with 12.04 LTS up-to-date. Users aren't sudoers and we made the following change... At: /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.policy Under the key action id=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.settings.modify.system we changed the line: allow_activeauth_admin_keep/allow_active to: allow_activeyes/allow_active This permits to configure system connections without asking for the administrator's password. However, we needed to upgrade network-manager and modemmanager for using some mobile broadband USB devices. We upgraded from https://launchpad.net/~network-manager/+archive/trunk PPA and we lost our policy. I agree if the user is not sudoer can't (by default) change system connections. But upgrades should test any changes made in policies. 1. Upgraded network-manager modemmanager packages from https://launchpad.net/~network-manager/+archive/trunk 2. Rebooted the computer 3. PIN 4. New broadband connection for Vodafone ES 5. CONNECTED! It works for 12.04 and 12d1:14ae Huawei. I don't continue with debug. Unfortunatelly I don't have any 19d2:1015 ZTE K3806-Z for testing now. @ #19 wader replaces modemmanager. So if you want to try a new time without wader v-mobile-boradband you must install a new time modemmanager. @ #16 I tried with a (1) 12.04 32 bit freshupdated installation, (2) upgrading network-manager and (3) upgrading also modemmanager. Another (obvious) solution is sudo service network-manager stop sudo service network-manager start No trouble with network connections, only with nm-applet submenues. gksu gedit /etc/xdg/autostart/nm-applet.desktop and changed Exec line as: Exec=sh -c sleep 30; nm-applet worked for me. Hello! International characters does'nt work when connecting from 12.04 LTS 64 bit to Windows machines by RDP. My keyboards are Spanish keyboards and the connection see them as English keyboards. I think the problem is Vinagre doesn't read keyboard international configurations. Not problem using Remmina but I prefer Vinagre. Screen resolution is better with Vinagre.
