[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1919310] Re: Wacom cursor not shown in Wayland, works in Xorg

2021-03-16 Thread Jouni Mettala
There is older bug against xf86-input-wacom.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xf86-input-wacom/+bug/1852851

It leads to https://github.com/linuxwacom/xf86-input-wacom/issues/39
"pen that is reported as two devices, a stylus and an eraser. It is designed to
switch to the eraser when the bottom barrel button is held."

Libinput.txt shows line:
Capabilities: tablet
Is that right or should it be pointer?

Affecting libinput because wayland uses it.

Bug description:
The issue appeared after upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04, the icon was right
in 15.10. I'm using Ubuntu Mate but the issue is likely indpendant of
  the DE.

When displaying the applications-development.svg icon (from
categories), either in Caja (Nautilus fork) or the Applications menu,
the silver part is black instead of the normal appearance. It only
  appears with sizes 16, 22, 24 & 32; sizes 48, 64 & 128 appear fine.

The weird things is that it doesn't happen if I open the icons in
Inkscape or display them in a HTML page. It only happens in the file
manager and Apps menu (and probably other places I haven't been able
to check, like menus and such). Might be a Gtk rendering issue rather
  than the icons themselves.

I attach a montage that shows the black-ish icons.

  I am on Lubuntu 18.04 evince 3.28.4-0

The same issue was reported on evince gitlab but someone (a dev?) said
that the version is too old to be handled by them and ask here.

  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evince/issues/1346 that's the original
report (by another user with the same issue)

Edit: Installing the latest version from Flathub makes evince to run again
(even though in terminal shows the error below)
  (evince:2): dbind-WARNING **: 22:11:54.800: AT-SPI: Error retrieving
accessibility bus address: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown:
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown

So while it does not fixes the issue from the affected version, it
makes evince usable for users again.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1718215] Re: versions of cups-filters and libqpdf do not match

2018-12-07 Thread Jouni Mettala
Hi Laura. This bug was happening in development version of Ubuntu and is
fixed. You can file a new bug. Open terminal and copy "ubuntu-bug cups"
without quotes there.

http://www.openprinting.org/printer/HP/HP-OfficeJet_Pro_8600 says this
printer is paperweight but there is a comment that says printer works.

Title:
Evince does not print hyphens in some PDF documents (cairo bug)

Status in cairo:
  Unknown
Status in cairo package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
In some PDF files, characters like hyphen (minus sign) and others
symbols are not printed in Evince.

  According to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94615, the
bug is in version 1.14 of cairo.

The bug was fixed last year in version 1.15 (see

https://cgit.freedesktop.org/cairo/commit/?id=190678f6444ad879847d603c3c9eaf8e9ab6887a).

I've backported the above patch in Ubuntu 16.04 xenial, and it fixes
  the bug.

To reproduce the bug (see attached test files) in Ububtu 16.04 (with
  libcairo2 1.14.6-1):

  1. Create a LaTeX test document (test.tex) with the following content:

  \documentclass{article}
  \usepackage[T1]{fontenc}
  \begin{document}
  a-b---
  \end{document}

  2. Create a test.pdf from test.tex:

  pdflatex test.tex

  3. Create a cairo pdf output (or print test.pdf on a printer, using
  Evince):

  pdftocairo test.pdf -pdf test1.pdf

Open test1.pdf with Evince: as you can see, some of the hyphen signs
  have disappeared.

To fix the bug, rebuild the cairo deb packages with the attached patch,
install the packages and do (or print test.pdf on a printer, using Evince):

  pdftocairo test.pdf -pdf test2.pdf

Now, open test2.pdf with Evince: there is no more missing hyphen sign.

  System: Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS
  Packages: libcairo2 (1.14.6-1)

Inputting in Chrome URL Bar Triggering UI Freeze, pegged CPU and Major
  Memory Leak

Status in GNOME Shell:
  Unknown
Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  OS: Ubuntu 17.10 (Linux weilong-Ubuntu 4.13.0-16-generic #19-Ubuntu
  SMP Wed Oct 11 18:35:14 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux)

  GNOME version: GNOME Shell 3.26.1
Chrome version: Version 62.0.3202.75 (Official Build) (64-bit)

  Description:

This may very likely have something to do with my Chinese input method
(iBus). I encounter this consistently while the system input method is
Chinese (WubiHaifeng86) but the mode within the input method is
  English.

Inputting in Chrome URL bar is triggering UI freeze and major memory
meak. The whole UI freezes and won't respond to either mouse or
keyboard. Can't switch to console by Ctrl+Alt+Fx. Was able to ssh in
from another machine and gather information.

  Reproduce Steps:

  1. Switch system input method to Chinese (WubiHaifeng86)
  2. Switch to English inputting mode (while system input method is still
Chinese).
  3. Open Chrome
  4. Input some characters in URL bar and the bug should occur. If not, use
Backspace to delete some and input some more.

(Sometimes swapping step 2 and 3 might help reproduce the issue.)
