[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1879287] Re: [nvidia+amdgpu] System sometimes starts with a black screen with Nvidia PRIME setup on Ryzen+Nvidia system (but kernel 5.6.14 works perfectly)
I have a very similar problem, today I asked a question on ask ubuntu https://askubuntu.com/questions/1265779/video-issues-with-amd-igpu-and-nvidia-gpu-in-an-aspire-a715-41g-laptop -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-drivers-common in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1879287 Title: [nvidia+amdgpu] System sometimes starts with a black screen with Nvidia PRIME setup on Ryzen+Nvidia system (but kernel 5.6.14 works perfectly) Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in nvidia-prime package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in ubuntu-drivers-common package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I've recently installed Ubuntu on a laptop that has a Ryzen APU (with Vega 8 integrated graphics) and a Nvidia dedicated GPU. The first issue that this kind of setup gives on a fresh install is that that PRIME render offloading doesn't work, I presume that Ubuntu currently sets up hybrid graphics for laptop with Intel+Nvidia, not AMD+Nvidia but that's another separate issue. As a workaround I created an Xorg configuration (attached in this report) that sets up both GPUs (with the appropiate BusIDs), after such configuration is applied the system boots fine with AMD integrated graphics being used and the ability to switch to Nvidia with PRIME render off-loading. The problem comes when I try to use the computer the next day, then it gives me a black screen without having the ability to switch to a tty, the boot log doesn't throw any errors I just see a black screen after Xorg tries to start. I can make it work again by entering in recovery mode, logging into a root console and switching between "nvidia" and "on-demand" modes using prime-select (I set it up to "on-demand" profile after installing Ubuntu). For the moment I cannot provide any relevant logs since it's now working fine (and I don't remember seeing any errors on Xorg logs), also I don't really know where to look for this kind of issues. I have font text scaling set to 1.25. After updating mutter to package version 3.32.0-1ubuntu1 the text scaling setting is not loaded any more when starting gnome. This can be set, for example, either by using "Gnome tweaks" or with gsettings: settings set org.gnome.desktop.interface text-scaling-factor 1.25 2) You'll see that the top bar text gets larger. 3) Log out and log in. El tema es que siempre y con versiones anteriores (además de con esta) se me tilda la pantalla y queda el SO totalmente inmovilizado, con la pantalla en algunos de los colores que estaba viendo. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1068404] Re: Low graphics mode in muxless hybrid ATI/Intel GPU systems after fglrx upgrade
The issue is back. Ubuntu told me there were updates for my system, so I installed them, and now the issue has returned. The X server has a segmentation fault and the low graphics mode is activated. WORKAROUND: Follow carefully the instructions here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI#WORKAROUND As per Nick Andrik, this is a version regression of xserver-xorg- video-intel from 2.20.2 (working and in below mentioned PPA) and 2.20.3. Upstream fglrx has published a new version (> 13.1 ) of the driver which seems to solve this issue. No need to revert the commit in the Intel driver any more. ATTENTION: 1. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 933550] Re: crashes after clicking on 'copy CD/DVD' again
Its seriously getting on my nerves. I've been copying a whole load of old disks to my hard drive so i could get rid of them - they're taking too much room. It works for the first time, but it shuts down after clicking Copy CD/DVD for the next CD, no messages shown as the bug description says. Its very annoying, imagine restarting Brasero a million times, look for the folder where the ISO should be changed AND change the image format. On top of that, for some weird reason, Brasero changes the current folder to my home folder when I choose a different format, which is very annoying. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to brasero in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/933550 Title: crashes after clicking on 'copy CD/DVD' again Status in “brasero” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: i'm copying a lot of DVDs to HDD the first works without problems. after finishing the copy process i cut and paste the file into another dir on HDD, throw the DVD out with the option 'Tools', insert another DVD and click on "copy CD/DVD". there Brasero fails and crashes without comment. reopening it again i can copy the DVD to HDD normal, but i crashes at the second time. this is also reproducible when i cancel the copy-job and then clicking again on 'copy CD/DVD'... [Desktop-packages] [Bug 879456] Re: Typeahead functionality for nautilus is broken
I can confirm the fix too. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/879456 Title: Typeahead functionality for nautilus is broken Status in Nautilus: New Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “nautilus” source package in Oneiric: Fix Released Bug description: This bug is similar to: #857710 File selection by typing is buggy sometimes Description: Ubuntu 11.10 Release: 11.10 nautilus: Installed: 1:3.2.1-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 1:3.2.1-0ubuntu1 However the person that was assigned to that bug told me to file a new one because supposedly it is a different bug. I installed the nautilus 1:3.2.1-0ubuntu1 package from ubuntu proposed and all packages related and I still experience the following behavior: Expected behavior: - Open nautilus in ANY folder. - Start typing name of folder/file. - Nautilus selects folders/file matching as you type (one file at a time matching what is in the search/typeahead box). - Type backspace - Deletes the last character typed in search/typeahead box Actual Behavior - Open nautilus in ANY folder. - Start typing the name of a folder/file. - Sometimes the search box opens and sometimes it does not. (BUG) - If it does open, after a letter or two the search box disappears. (BUG) - If you change folders sometimes the box reappears as you start typing other times it disappears. (BUG) - If the box re-appears typing in Back-space does not delete the text present in the box, instead it navigates backwards (Unexpected behavior) - If it disappears It does not re-appear until you close and re-open nautilus. (BUG) This happens in ALL views (Icon, List, Compact) with or without status bar enabled (Some suggested that the status bar fixes this, it does not). The newly released packages (nautilus* 3.2.1) DO NOT fix this bug. I am on Ubuntu 11.10 64Bit Using Gnome 3.2 and Gnome Shell.
