Title:
Copy from Firefox Wayland fails to be pasted anywhere else

Status in GTK+:
  Unknown
Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid
Status in gtk+3.0 package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Running Firefox 84.0.2 for Ubuntu Canonical-1.0 on Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS,
  on Wayland native

  Version 84.0.2
  Build ID 20210105180113

  Window Protocol wayland
  Desktop Environment gnome

  DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM:

If I copy text from a web page and try to paste it into another
Firefox page, the text is pasted correctly.

If I copy text from a web page and try to paste it in [gedit,
libreoffice, thunderbird, terminal, slack (electron)] nothing happens.
The Gnome Clipboard extension stays empty when content is copied from
  Firefox Wayland.

Pasting *from* another app *to* Firefox works fine.

Bug description:
This happens on Ubuntu 19.10 and still happening on Ubuntu 20.04

Let me give a little background

My laptop (Razer Stealth) has a built in display with default 3840 by 2160.
I currently have it set up to 1920 by 1080, as it drains the battery faster
using the higher resolution.

At login, the resolution show at 1920 by 1080, but after entering the
password, the screen changes the resolution back to the default (3840
by 2160), but once the desktop of the user loads it changes back to
  1920 by 1080.

The change of resolution can be noticeable because the size of the mouse
pointer becomes much smaller when logging in.

Title:
at log in the resolution changes before going to desktop

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
This happens on Ubuntu 19.10 and still happening on Ubuntu 20.04

Let me give a little background

My laptop (Razer Stealth) has a built in display with default 3840 by 2160.
I currently have it set up to 1920 by 1080, as it drains the battery faster
using the higher resolution.

I currently have it set up to 1920 by 1080, as it drains the battery faster
using the higher resolution.

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
This happens on Ubuntu 19.10 and still happening on Ubuntu 20.04

Let me give a little background

My laptop (Razer Stealth) has a built in display with default 3840 by 2160.
I currently have it set up to 1920 by 1080, as it drains the battery faster
using the higher resolution.

I currently have it set up to 1920 by 1080, as it drains the battery faster
using the higher resolution.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1868614] Re: at log in the resolution changes before going to desktop

2020-03-24 Thread Kain Centeno
Hi Daniel,

You seem to be correct as I tried with 3840x2160 at 2x and it seems to
be less of an issue visually but the screen still goes dark when it does
the change of resolutions on step 2 for succesful login. The mouse goes
from being at the centre of the screen to end up close to the lower
right.

I will run the command now.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1851807] Re: xdg-desktop-portal-gtk spams logs

2020-01-25 Thread Kain
I have upgraded/restarted xdg-desktop-portal 1.4.2-2ubuntu1, according
to my journalctl --user it appears to fix the introspection bug.

  [Impact]

   * Continual spamming of the syslog

  [Test Case]

   * Reboot after installing the update
   * grep org.freedesktop.portal.Error.Failed /var/log/syslog
 - You should only see the error logged once since your most recent login

  [Regression Potential]

   * Regressions are very unlikely for this change, it just suppresses the
logging of this one error condition more than once.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1792843] Re: GDM lock screen will not accept credentials and then loses keyboard?

2018-11-01 Thread Kain
I can work around by using ctrl-alt-f1 to change to the user switcher
and re-authenticatie into the session that way.

GDM lock screen will not accept credentials and then loses keyboard?

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
So yesterday I got the prompt to upgrade my 16LTS system to 18. This
caused a number of issues, but the most frustrating issue out of many
  has to be this one.

After a period of inactivity, the lock screen kicks in. When I then
try to log in, using the correct password, I get a spinner for about
  10 seconds, the "Authentication error".

After a couple of seconds "Authentication error" goes away but now it
seems no keys are registering at all in the password field. I say "it
seems" because I see no "*"s as I type, but I do see occasional
prompts of "Authentication error" coming back, but I haven't
pinpointed the circumstances - certainly not triggered by hitting
ENTER, sometimes backspace? Not sure if it has anything to do with the
  keys.

After this all I can do is log in over ssh and reboot; I'm basically
  locked out on the console.

If I wait a while the keyboard does seem to come back but the problem
is still there - my password is not accepted and then the keyboard
again seems to do nothing for a while.

This happens whether I have a USB keyboard connected or whether I am
running Synergy and using a virtual keyboard. Mouse continues to work
  fine.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1068404] Re: Low graphics mode in Hybrid ATI/Intel GPU systems after fglrx upgrade

2012-12-15 Thread Kain Branford
^Nick, I followed the steps in the workaround. Still experiencing the
same problem, unity won't load, and if try to start compiz it will fail
too. Also the workaround shows an AMD watermark in the lower right.

Bug description:
After installing the latest fglrx-updates package on Ubuntu 12.10
(fglrx-updates_9.000-0ubuntu3_amd64) I have the same issue that was
present before AMD fixed switchable graphics on PowerXpress 4.0 cards
(such as my HD 6470M coupled with the intel HD Graphics 3000 of my
intel Core i5-2430M). The X server has a segmentation fault and the
  low graphics mode is activated.

WORKAROUND: Follow carefully the instructions here:
  https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI#WORKAROUND

As per Nick Andrik, this is a version regression of xserver-xorg-
video-intel from 2.20.2 (working and in below mentioned PPA) and
  2.20.3. The regression commit is
  http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-
  intel/commit/?id=05dcc5f1699ba90fc14c50882e8d4be89bc4a4f9 .

ATTENTION: If your system includes an old ATI GPU card (Radeon HD 2x00 3x00
4x00) which is not supported any more by fglrx drivers, then probably you
suffer from this bug:
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/1058040
  Subscribe and comment there please.

If the X server loads (so you see no low graphics mode window) but you get no
menu bars, window decorations, etc, then press Ctrl+Shift+T to open a terminal,
write in there:
  unity --replace
and post a comment with the result.
