Well, in the meantime I did create a new bug report for the freezes with xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts-quantal and Intel Sandy Bridge on Ubuntu 12.04: #1161088 I did re-use this bug as those Sandy Bridge i915 drm hangs system freezes do feel pretty similar to this bug and there was just about the same bug on Ubuntu 11.10... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
I am using 12.04 x86_64 and since a few days, my Ubuntu informs me about problems, which seem to relate to xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts-quantal. Sometimes, the whole computer (GUI hangs, no reaction on mouse/keyboard, can't switch to the terminal) hangs for several seconds. A few minutes ago, the machine completely froze and needed a hard reset. May this be the same issue or is it a new one with the lts-quantal backport? What info do you need? ** Attachment added: lspci-vvv.txt https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/993187/+attachment/3596725/+files/lspci-vvv.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently. Sometimes when the screeensaver blanked my screen, the X session wont recover completely: - Screen reactivates and shows the cursor on a black screen - nothing happens (waited some minutes) - switching to consoles is posssible - when switching back from console to X, mouse pointer shows on top of the consoles frame buffer - service gdm restarts works (until next display blank) - did not happen on AC power, yet - there are i915 hangcheck timer warnings from time to time Apart from that, I had 2 complete system freezes (X screen freezes, no switch to console, no access via SSH, no ping, ..) within about 2 weeks.
