[Desktop-packages] [Bug 904505] Re: Flash doesn't work in WebKitGTK3 browsers

2012-10-28 Thread Linuxexperte
hi together,

I can confirm the same thing here in LinuxMint 13 with web (epiphany-browser).
In Firefox and Midori it works,
so: why does it not work in web??

Without a working flash in web, the Ubuntu Gnome-Remix is useless. So I
would be glad, if this would be fixed.

Question: does anybody know the reason, why flas his not working in
web??

Greetings

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 403829] Re: flashplugin-installer prerm script fix

2012-09-20 Thread Linuxexperte
I found out, that in LinuxMint, I do not have problems with flash
anymore. But in Ubuntu, flahs often hangs, because the flash often
causes cache-overflows. So I manually have to empty out the cache of the
browsers, then flahs works again for some time, until the cache is full
again.

This is not nice and in LinuxMint, I do not see this, because I am not
forced to use the adobe-flash. The Mint-flash is better and it also does
not cause these cache-overflows so much. OK, there this also sometimes
happens, but not as often as in Ubuntu.

And also the 32bit flash often has problems in Ubuntu so I would like to
see this ppa-repository re-opened for Ubuntu Precise and Quantal and
even onwards. This would help a lot with flash-trouble! Also in earlier
Ubuntu-versions, this ppa-repository helped out a lot!! So we users
would greet it, if this repository came back to live!!

obvious fix is to change lines 37 and 55 to:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 775682] Re: Desktop sharing in Empathy in 11.04 disabled when chatting with Empathy in 10.04

2011-12-07 Thread Linuxexperte
I discover the same here in Ubuntu 11.10.

Yesterday, a contact wanted to invite me to share desktop because we are
working on a mutual artwork-project. He tried to send me his invitation,
but I did not get this on my screen.

I use Ubuntu 11.10 on my Notebook with Gnome-Shell 3.2 and he uses
LinuxMint 11 also with Gnome-Shell and also Arch-Linux with Gnome-Shell.
But we discovered - as I wrote - that his invitation for desktop-sharing
doesn't show up on my screen. So my question is: what is running wrong
here??

Thanks for any advice.

  Empathy in 10.04

Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: empathy

A friend of mine has been using Ubuntu 10.04. Because he has some
newer hardware, I recommended that he upgrade from 10.04 to 11.04,
which fixes some issues. I'm still using Ubuntu 10.04, and we
typically use the screen sharing feature in Empathy to allow me to
remotely log into his machine and fix things when needed.

Unfortunately, now that he's upgraded, it seems that, when he chats
with me using Empathy, the Share My Desktop menu item on his end is
disabled. However, when I use 11.04, his Share My Desktop option is
enabled, and works as expected. Furthermore, when I'm in 10.04 and he
is in 11.04, I can invite him to share my desktop, and this also works
  as expected.

From a user's perspective, then, it seems that the upgrade from
Empathy in 10.04 to 11.04 broke backwards compatibility between the
screen sharing feature of these two versions of Empathy, such that the
newer version cannot invite the older version to share the newer
  version's desktop.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 771788] Re: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk

2011-09-17 Thread Linuxexperte
hi people,

can confirm this here in LinuxMint 11.

A few days ago, a new kernel arrived: 2.6.38-11. Since this kernel, the
proprietary nvidia-driver has come back to work. But jockey-output still
is a fals-output, since it reports, that this driver is activated but
not in use. But this is - as I just stated - a wrong output! This
driver works.

This can be checked through several ways:

first way: open your Nvdia-settings and check the version there.

second way: open your terminal and type in this:

/usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test -p

The Output of this should look something similar to the one here:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/37084/nvidia-driver-activated-but-
currently-not-in-use

The third trick is this: again open your Terminal and type in this:

sudo lshw -C display

The Output of this again should also look something similar to the
output shown on the link above. So you see, the driver works, but jockey
still reports a wrong output. So it comes clearer now, that this is a
wrong stating of jockey-gtk and that we are faced with a bug in jockey-
gtk which needs to be fixed as it can lead to confusion.

Greetings

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 771788] Re: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk

2011-09-17 Thread Linuxexperte
hi michael,

I already contacted Adrian to get his email sorted and to stop spamming.
My email-inbox already gets flooded from his spam with out-of-office-
notice!! I have marked it as spam and unwanted to stop this.

I think, I will also unsubscribe until then. I don't hope, he is victim
of a spambot!!!

Greetings

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 751036] Re: WARNING: Failed to parse default value `' for schema (/schemas/apps/devhelp/state/main/contents/books_disabled)

2011-09-04 Thread Linuxexperte
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 704096 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/704096

Can vconfirm the same thing here in LinuxMint 11. each time, when
trigger is run through update or installing a software I want, I see
this error-message in the reports.

What I would like to know: what is the cause for this and how can it be
resolved??

Greetings

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 704096] Re: errors in gconf schema

2011-09-04 Thread Linuxexperte
I can not confirm, that this bug is settled, because this same error-
message is still there in synaptic when installing or removing software
thoruhg Synaptic. Right after the Triggers I see this message displayed.

In my case, I have this in LinuxMint 11 based on UBuntu natty Narwhal.

And what I also find out: in many apps, the help-information is
disabled. so how can I get this settled or what is the cause for this??
If I can't do any thing on this, I would be pleased, if this could be
fixed Please fix this.

Devhelp seems to have at least one error in its gconf schema, as
exposed by the warning that shows up every time I update the network-

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 702599] Re: Warning during trigger run at installation

2011-09-04 Thread Linuxexperte
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 704096 ***

Can confirm the same thing here in LinuxMint 11 Gnome2.32.

Each time, when the trigger is run after installing updates or at
installing software via Synaptic, this error-message is displayed still.
So this bug is not yet fixed or even settled.
