[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1332044] Re: iBus installed w/ Chinese Pinyin but "[Invalid UTF-8]" results on selection of characters

2014-07-03 Thread Luc C.
By the way, if Chinese is really needed, an alternative to Ibus is
fcitx. It seems to work well. It seems pretty recent, before there
wasn't any alternative.

我不喜欢iBus。:p

Title:
  iBus installed w/ Chinese Pinyin but "[Invalid UTF-8]" results on
  selection of characters

Status in “ibus-pinyin” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Platform: Linux xxx 3.13.0-27-generic #50-Ubuntu SMP Thu May 15
  18:06:16 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

  IBus: version 1.5.0 is correctly installed and running as part of TT 14.04
(LTS). (iBus Daemon runs in current session)
  Fonts: ipafont-gothic and ipafont-mincho are installed, as evidenced by a
proper 'fc-list'
  Japanese Anthy text entry: works well (direct trial), except in terminal
window.
  Chinese SunPinyin text entry: works well, except in terminal window, but not
an acceptable option for this user
  Chinese Pinyin: fails   <-- ***

  The whole gui seems to work perfectly well, setting of preferences,
  English full width text entry and toggling between English and Chinese
  Pinyin entry with the shift key.

  Chinese Text entry (apparently) is well configured with my choice of "Chinese
Pinyin". Pinyin entry actually works and iBus actually reacts well to "nihao",
by proposing "你好" in return (this was pasted from a translation website, not
generated by this iBus !) .
  However selecting that choice with the space bar, results invariably in
"[Invalid UTF-8]".
   (even after multpiple reboots & restarts of iBus)

  Steps to reproduce the error:
Unknown.
This is the result of a normal dual boot install.
  More info:
If more info is required (hardware, etc), ask.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1181106] Re: Failed to change profile to A2DP in 13.04 (Raring), 13.10 (saucy), and 14.04 (trusty)

2014-07-03 Thread Luc C.
Erf. I forgot to install the package.

So what I have done:
* install pulseaudio-module-bluetooth
*in /etc/bluetooth/audio.conf, I have:

[General]
Enable = Source,Sink,Headset,Gateway,Control,Media,Socket
#Disable=Socket
HFP=false
[A2DP]
SBCSources=1
MPEG12Sources=0

#15 doesn't work for me if I don't enable the Socket (I have absolutely
no idea why). Then:

pulseaudio -k
pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover
pactl load-module module-switch-on-connect

and then it works. I couldn't load
 pactl load-module module-bluetooth-device
from #15. I still have to change manually in blueman to A2DP, but at least it
works. It was the same under 13.10 for me.

Sometimes if I switch to the mode with microphone then A2Dp doesn't work
anymore. Killing pulseaudio seems to be a solution in this case.

PS: Just see what I did as a magic trick, I just copied what I read, I
have no idea what I am doing :D

Title:
  Failed to change profile to A2DP in 13.04 (Raring), 13.10 (saucy), and

Status in Bluez Utilities:
  New
Status in “pulseaudio” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  I upgraded to 13.04 recently and my A2DP profile, which had been
  working great under 12.10 is suddenly gone. Neither my blueman applet
  nor the built-in bluetooth manager applet can connect my external
  bluetooth speaker to the A2DP profile. They can connect to the
  bluetooth device itself just fine.

  Steps I'm using:

  * using blueman, I can connect to the external bluetooth speaker and view the
device in the devices listing
  * I can connect the device to the Audio sink and I get a message saying it is
now connected and will "show in the PulseAudio mixer"
  * After connecting the external speaker to the audio sink, I can also see the
device in the "Play sound through" listing in the Sound system control panel,
but the icon has a circle with a line through it.
  * but if I right-click the device and choose "Audio Profile" from the context
menu and try to select "High Fidelity Playback (A2DP)" as the new profile, I
get an error message stating "failed to change profile to a2dp"

  I've already added "Enable=Socket" in /etc/bluetooth/audio.conf,
  without that I can't pair my headset. Now I can pair it, but I can't
  activate the A2DP profile.

  When I try to activate it, I see this message in my syslog :
  pulseaudio[2603]: [pulseaudio] module-bluetooth-device.c: Profile has no
transport

  I tried the kernel 3.9.0 because of a sound problem with my soundcard,
  this kernel fixed my soundcard problem, but A2DP still doesn't work

2014-04-01 Thread Luc C.
But on reboot pulsaudio doesn't load the modules correctly:
For
$ pactl list | grep -i module-bluetooth
 I only get:
  module-bluetooth-policy

Then I was able to make the headset works with
pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover
pactl load-module module-switch-on-connect

but
pactl load-module module-bluetooth-device
didn't want to load...

I hope I'll be able to use the headset without configuring every sinlge
time :p

The answer in #15 worked for me.

I have lubuntu 13.10 (but installed initially ubuntu 13.10 and added the
