[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1888091] [NEW] Deform switch in the Livepatch tab

2020-07-18 Thread MadsRH
Public bug reported:

When the user isn't signed in, the switch looks deform / squeezed. See
the attached screenshot.

Maybe the blue spinner is somehow calculated into the padding and when
the spinner is gone (after "Checking availability"), the padding does
not match and the switch gets squeezed.

This is only a visual bug, non critical, but should be low hanging
fruit.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1866134] [NEW] Yaru icons are not shown in Gnome-Software

2020-03-04 Thread MadsRH
Public bug reported:

When an icon theme different from Adwaita is selected, the icons from
that theme are not shown in Gnome-Software.

This is confusing for user because they now see two different icons for
the same application (see the screenshot upstream).

It would be great if Gnome-Software would look for the icon in the
selected icon theme.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1864843] Re: shell theme should be adapted to GTK theme

2020-02-26 Thread MadsRH
Hi Danial

Here's a quote from the Ubuntu blog: https://ubuntu.com/blog/new-ubuntu-
theme-in-development-for-20-04

> In future, we would also like these settings to switch the theme for
shell elements, such as the top bar and notification bubbles. Achieving
this without requiring a logout each time will require additional work
in GNOME Shell – something we are investigating.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1632027] Re: New Document feature missing from Nautilus 3.20+

2020-02-26 Thread MadsRH
I'll add my frustration here as well and possibly a solution.

I think we all agree that this is a basic feature and removing it
results in a horrible user experience. The key here is IMHO the lack of
discoverability. I wouldn't call myself a beginner user and yet I had no
idea that the disappearing "New document" in the contextmenu was related
to the Template folder.

Anyway, I’ll be sad to see yet another LTS shipped where this isn’t fix,
so what do you think about this simple solution:

If the Templates folder is empty, a submenu entry is added in the
contextmenu, which simply is a link to the Template folder. And ofc as
soon as you put something in the Template folder, the user sees only
that in the submenu. We already have a help text inside the folder and a
"learn more..." link.

It’s not ideal, but it increases discoverability which is key here.
What do you think?

This would need to be a patch since upstream don't want it :/

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1805523] Re: System Sound Events Not Playing even when enabled

2019-02-15 Thread MadsRH
It seems like only some of the sounds are triggered.
Like if I add the 'empty-trash' or 'item-delete' file from the freedesktop name
spec (http://0pointer.de/public/sound-naming-spec.html), non of them are played.

Is there a place/setting when you can enable/disable sound for certain
events?

Yaru system sounds are present in /usr/share/sounds/Yaru yet nothing
still plays. Some sounds that do play is the warning that appears when
closing multiple tabs in firefox, and inserting a usb device

  To reproduce:

Do something that should produce an error or warning noise, like
emptying the trash or quitting terminal with a running process open.

The sound theme is installed from apt repository, yaru-theme-sound version
