Bug description:
I get logged off from Ubuntu sometimes. There is no error message or
any indication that it is going to log off. The screen goes black, and
after 2-4 seconds, i get presented with the Ubuntu Log On Screen.

There is no clear pattern (or at least if have not noticed any). One
time i am working with Netbeans, another time i am using firefox. This
also means that at present i can not clearly say what package might be
  causing this behaviour.

I am fairly sure the problem lies in 12.04 (or more precise - the
combination of 12.04 and the hardware i am using). I do not have the
same problem running 11.04 or 11.10.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1042327] Re: X.org segmentation fault

2012-12-05 Thread Menno van Alz
Replaced KDM with LightDM to determine whether these crashes are X fault
or KDM. Seems it X, because today I've encountered a crash again. But
this time I haven't found anything in logs (grepped it for
segmentation fault closed unxpectedly — nothing).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1042327] Re: X.org segmentation fault

2012-10-18 Thread Menno van Alz
After the latest KDE's update to 4.8.5 the crashes happen more rarely.
And, while the crash logs are stored in /var/log/kdm.log I'm quite unsure if
this is a X.org bug or a KDM bug.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 740785] Re: Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault). Server aborting

2012-08-26 Thread Menno van Alz
I think I got some similar bug on Kubuntu 12.04.
It happens randomly.

I found this in /var/kdm.log

Backtrace:
0: /usr/bin/X (xorg_backtrace+0x37) [0xb7749627]
1: /usr/bin/X (0xb75c1000+0x18c3aa) [0xb774d3aa]

3: /usr/lib/dri/fglrx_dri.so (0xb19e+0xae36c5) [0xb24c36c5]
Segmentation fault at address (nil)

Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault). Server aborting

Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support
 at http://wiki.x.org
 for help.
Please also check the log file at /var/log/Xorg.0.log for additional
information.

 ddxSigGiveUp: Closing log

Release Date: 2011-12-16
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0

There's also an entry in /var/syslog:
Aug 22 17:42:07 x86 kdm[1153]: X server for display :0 terminated unexpectedly
