2018-05-05 Thread Ghassan Mina
Thank you for your support but I was able to resolve the issue. The problem
was due to the extensions that I had before upgrading. I wiped all the
extensions and everything worked as a charm

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1658528] Re: Sound not working anymore

2017-03-16 Thread Mina
Okay there's a BIOS setting in the motherboard. Something like "Enable
Onboard Audio". I had it on "Enabled". I set it to "Auto" and the sound
worked immediately! Ubuntu's drum sound came out. It never ever came out
before. Sound used to work after login. Awesome 8)

Just to say, not sure of the exact names of the settings

Bug description:
  Impact
installing local debs from nautilus doesn't work

  Test case
download a deb and double click on it nautilus

  Regression potential
the changes are restoring a feature that was working, should regression other
parts of the code

  -

Unlike previous versions of Ubuntu Unity, I'm unable to install the
google-talk-plugin in Ubuntu 16.04, where it (the deb) can be downloaded here:
  https://www.google.com/tools/dlpage/hangoutplugin

After downloading, I open the deb file from Firefox and it launches
the gnome-software package (used in Unity now).

The first time I click the install button in gnome-software, I notice
a strange repositioning of the layout, but nothing else happens.

Clicking the install button a second time puts a
question-mark-progress-launcher onto the launcher (task) bar, but it never
progresses:

So far, no one has offered a workaround:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1658528] Re: Sound not working anymore

2017-01-22 Thread Mina
of course Ii tried that, but after you asked I tried again and again.
Doesn't work but the thing is it's totally silent. Not glitching or
anything. It seems very unlikely to me to be a hardware thing. It's a
desktop. I didn't do anything. I didn't move it at all and it happened
after a reboot.

However I'll keep on trying to get sound out of it.

Title:
  Sound not working anymore

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Didn't do anything strange but the sound just stopped working for my
  headphones. Just like that.

I have multiple soundcards. The one affected is CA0132 which is the
built-in card of the motherboard. The other card isn't affected
(CA0106) and is working fine with external speakers. I also tried with
a plug and play usb soundcard (USB PnP Sound Device). also not
affected and is working (as expected I guess).

Tried restarting. Tried playing around with alsamixer and pavucontrol.
Tried checking for updates and updating to latest. ...Didn't try doing
  a back-flip tho hehe XD

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1430533] [NEW] weird graphical glitch. mainly with text

2015-03-10 Thread Mina
Public bug reported:

attached is a picture with just some text to give an idea how it looked
like. It didn't keep steady. it seemed to "fade" and become like that.
when refreshed (by highlighting it with the mouse for example) it seemed
to become clearer .. then fade back to ugly. (all this is just
explanation to how the glitch looks like).

just turned on the computer and found texts looking like this. in google
chrome, in the software centre and in nautilus for example.

I'm on ubuntu 14.04LTS

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1341167] Re: freezes while draging a window from a workspace

2014-07-14 Thread Mina
I though about it but I don't really think it's related to some package
(other than those defaults responsible for display or something like
that.)

...I can try to explain more;

It's not that the computer hangs because of RAM or because of heavy
processor duty. It's kind of a glitch. When it happens, the processor
lamp isn't busy (isn't flickering quickly, but instead just flickers
once in about 5 seconds). Actually the bug can happen with just Google
Chrome open. It can even happen without "expo mode". The mouse can move
freely but Ubuntu doesn't comply to its commands. Sometimes, when the
bug happens, the mouse has the shape of "the closed fist" and the shape
wouldn't go back to normal. (the closed fist is the mouse shape you get
when you drag any window anywhere).
