[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1792822] Re: Dual monitor not working in 18.04(.1) on a dual-radeon-GPU system

2020-05-17 Thread Neptilo
In my case, switching to the Nvidia proprietary driver only made things
worse: second screen was not even detected.

Title:
Dual monitor not working in 18.04(.1) on a dual-radeon-GPU system

Status in mutter package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Dual monitor setup works fine in 16.04 LTS. Not anymore in 18.04(.1).
This renders 18.04 useless. Till this is solved will have to stick
with 16.04. i.e. this is a pretty critical bug!

After a fresh install from DVD first got a freeze on login screen (live CD
will run ubuntu though!). This could be solved by switching to lightdm display
manager. (Boo! for GDM that cannot even show a login screen without freezing
the system)

But one issue remains: the dual monitor setup will not work in 18.04.

I can see the mouse move to the second monitor. I can drag windows
there (and lose sight of them). I can see the mouse cursor change to
click a link. But otherwise there is a completely black screen, or
dots / colored fields, but nothing even resembling a program.

  MB: Gigabyte GA-A75M-UD2H
Monitor that works fine: ASUS on Radeon HD 6550D
monitor that only shows mouse cursor: benq on Radeon HD 4870 (onboard on the
gigabyte motherboard)

Note: dual monitor setup did not work with other upgrades after 16.04. I
hoped this would be solved with the next LTS update. Not so, to great
disappointment!
Ubuntu really fails if with new major updates it makes systems fall down.
This kind of thing should work FLAWLESS out of the box! How would anyone move
to Ubuntu when this kind of thing does not work? Windows is a drama, but at
least it has the mere basics working!

Status in The Rhythmbox Music Management Application:
  Invalid
Status in “rhythmbox” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
The keyboard shortcut for play/pause is documented in the help system
of rhythmbox 2.99.1 as being CTRL+Spacebar (which is what I'm used
to), but it doesn't work. Playing a song, then hitting CTRL+Space does
not pause it, it just seems to toggle the highlighting of the current
track down in the tracks pane. Can we please restore the behavior of
  CTRL+Spacebar?

In Rhythmbox 3.0.2 the shorcut Control-P is what is being used for
this functionality, but Control-space is still being mentioned in the
  Control menu.

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Rhythmbox automatically parses windows files such as desktop.ini and
Thumbs.db.
This makes lots of delay when opening rhythmbox with the option to
automatically check changes in the library, since it always tries to add them
to the library.

jpeg files are filtered by default (no error is shown) so I think that
.ini and .db files should be filtered too

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1062204] Re: Move to Trash contect menu item does not move files to trash

2014-04-20 Thread Neptilo
I can confirm this bug is still there in Ubuntu 14.04, with Rhythmbox
3.0.2.

@Caio Alonso You are right, Nautilus does not allow to move a file to
the trash from another partition. But it is hard to believe that this
behavior in Rhythmbox is intentional. (It's just that they didn't think
about that.) To the end user it will only be perceived as a bug, which
is moreover very unconvenient as the user has to manually delete the
file from Nautilus (or in command line). Plus, when trying to move a
file to trash in Nautilus, it asks you if you want to delete it
immediately, so your intention to remove the file is finally achieved.

Rhythmbox should at least give the option to remove a file immediately,
just like Nautilus.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1274726] Re: CTRL+Space does not work to play/pause

2014-04-20 Thread Neptilo
Then the menu should reflect this new shortcut. Currently it is still
indicating Ctrl+Space.

If this is not a bug, at least this is misinformation and the menu
should be fixed.

For now I'll reopen the bug. Should I file a new one instead?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 978825] Re: Seeking disabled when starting podcast after downloading it

2014-04-19 Thread Neptilo
I just upgraded to Ubuntu 14.04 and tested podcast downloads with
Rhythmbox.

The bug does affect me too, though I would make some changes to the
steps to reproduce:

1. Subscribe to a podcast

2. Doubleclick on an old episode to download it

3. Start playing it while it is still being downloaded

4. Try seeking a position by clicking on the seek bar. It doesn't work.
(The seek bar is disabled.) Even after the download is completed, the
seek bar still doesn't work. You have to start another (already
downloaded) podcast and then start the one you really want to listen to
again to get it to reappear

As unlikely as it may seem, the specific podcast seems to matter. The
bug happened for the exact same feed as the OP's, but not for two others
that I tested.

Can you reproduce the bug with this specific podcast?

you unable to seek within it. You have to start another (already downloaded)

In case the specific podcast matters, I'm noticing this on the
  Skeptics Guide of the Universe
  (http://theskepticsguide.org/feed/rss.aspx?feed=SGU) (I haven't tested
other podcasts, but it seems unlikely to me that it matters).

Please let me know if you need more information or I can help in some
other way to debug this problem!
