[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1795808] [NEW] Xorg freeze

2018-10-03 Thread Nicolas Michel
Public bug reported:

Hi,

Since the installation of Ubuntu 18.10, I get the login screen but once
logged in I get a black screen. It happens only with the proprietary
nvidia driver 390. If I remove the nvidia driver to use nouveau, it
works.

My graphic card is: NVIDIA Corporation GP104 [GeForce GTX 1070 Ti]

So the automatic report in attachement will show you no nvidia driver
installed. It's because I am doing this bug report after removing the
nvidia driver to be able to get a desktop.

In attachement I add the journalctl of the preview boot which failed
with nvidia driver.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1725949] [NEW] nouveau drivers fails to start a wayland session and fallback to x11

2017-10-22 Thread Nicolas Michel
Public bug reported:

I have a Nvidia GTX 670. I tried the nouveau driver. At boot, it takes a
unusual long time then finally shows me gdm3 and everything is working
after. But echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE is set to "x11". Reading the logs, I
can see that after multiple failures to launch wayland, it falls back to
X11.

I added an attachement of journalctl -b -1 where it fails with nouveau
(I'm filling the bug after reinstalling nvidia proprietary driver).

Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
After upgrading to 13.10 today, every time I unlock my computer after
leaving it for a long time I get this prompt:

  --

  Automatic suspend

Computer will suspend very soon because of inactivity.

  --

However, the computer doesn't actually suspend.

And even if I do this manually (which works) and then resume, the
prompt is still there (and in that case, not true at all).

This is ugly and seems broken!

As suggested by the upstream Gnome bug report, this is an issue
pertaining to Ubuntu's lack of systemd integration.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 893031] Re: Empathy is not working behind the proxy servers SINCE Ubuntu 11.10

2013-04-24 Thread Nicolas Michel
I'm so surprised that nobody from the UBUNTU team can't take care of this
problem which is:
- old
- confirmed
- should be a staple feature of any OS

Probably that you are busy working on mobile features that nobody use?

I'm sorry, I love free softwares, but sometimes, it is really frustrating.

Bug description:
Empathy is unable to connect behind the proxy servers whatever way we try. It
doesn't utilize the proxy settings given globally to the system. There is no
proxy option in the program also. I tried connecting to empathy from Ubuntu
11.10 in three systems behind a proxy server and in all cases it failed.
I tried all of the following but none worked:

  1. Changing settings with gconf-editor ( Walk down the tree to system -
http_proxy . Search for use_http_proxy and check it. )
Even after doing that there is no change in behaviour of empathy
  2. gksudo gedit /etc/bash.bashrc
  export http_proxy=http://proxyhost:port/
  export ftp_proxy=http://proxyhost:port/
  save and exit
  This also didnt help anything
  3. Using tsocks and editing its config files also.
In that case the result was:
tsocks dbus-launch empathy fails to retrieve the accounts list.
tsocks empathy launches empathy, but it is unable to connect..

Please generate a patch for this problem and release new version of
  the program.
