[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1921112] [NEW] Chromium new tabs stop working when the core snap updates
Public bug reported: I've been using the refresh awareness feature: https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/wip-refresh-app-awareness/10736 That prevents chromium snap from updating while in use, which prevents a bug where opening a new tab stops working and gives SIGTRAP. (Very suboptimal, since now programs need to be closed and snap refresh manually called to get it to update, but I digress.) However, today I got an update to the "core" snap and new tabs stopped working again. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1080612] Re: Installing fglrx/fglrx-updates does nothing. radeon still in use.
I'm in the same situation, with Ubuntu 14.04.3 and fglrx-updates. Tried the instructions in comment #18 but did not change anything. The log file is attached. Also tried removing and reinstalling fglrx, to no effect. Problems seemingly started when I booted without the GPU (using Intel iGPU) to test hardware and again with the GPU. Before that fglrx was working fine. ** Attachment added: "gpu-manager.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/1080612/+attachment/4521265/+files/gpu-manager.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1080612 Title: Installing fglrx/fglrx-updates does nothing. radeon still in use. If I redirect the output from eog to a file, I get: (eog:22355): Gdk-WARNING **: eog: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0. /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old contains the following backtrace: [ 37534.034] (II) fglrx(0): EDID vendor LGD, prod id 826 [ 37534.034] (II) fglrx(0): Printing DDC gathered Modelines: [ 37534.034] (II) fglrx(0): Modeline 1366x768x0.0 76.50 1366 1402 1450 1546 768 771 776 824 -hsync -vsync (49.5 kHz) [ 37534.034] (II) fglrx(0): Modeline 1366x768x0.0 51.00 1366 1402 1450 1564 768 771 776 814 -hsync -vsync (32.6 kHz) [ 37534.113] (II) fglrx(0): EDID vendor LGD, prod id 826 [ 37534.113] (II) fglrx(0): Printing DDC gathered Modelines: [ 37534.113] (II) fglrx(0): Modeline 1366x768x0.0 76.50 1366 1402 1450 1546 768 771 776 824 -hsync -vsync (49.5 kHz) [ 37534.113] (II) fglrx(0): Modeline 1366x768x0.0 51.00 1366 1402 1450 1564 768 771 776 814 -hsync -vsync (32.6 kHz) [ 37536.071] (II) XKB: reuse xkmfile /var/lib/xkb/server-4E634B280B0E5C069EA80E39EF9080F0A8FC0600.xkm [ 37554.682] (II) fglrx(0): EDID vendor LGD, prod id 826 [ 37554.682] (II) fglrx(0): Printing DDC gathered Modelines: [ 37554.682] (II) fglrx(0): Modeline 1366x768x0.0 76.50 1366 1402 1450 1546 768 771 776 824 -hsync -vsync (49.5 kHz) [ 37554.682] (II) fglrx(0): Modeline 1366x768x0.0 51.00 1366 1402 1450 1564 768 771 776 814 -hsync -vsync (32.6 kHz) [ 41235.982] (II) fglrx(0): EDID vendor LGD, prod id 826 [ 41235.982] (II) fglrx(0): Printing DDC gathered Modelines: [ 41235.982] (II) fglrx(0): Modeline 1366x768x0.0 76.50 1366 1402 1450 1546 768 771 776 824 -hsync -vsync (49.5 kHz) [ 41235.982] (II) fglrx(0): Modeline 1366x768x0.0 51.00 1366 1402 1450 1564 768 771 776 814 -hsync -vsync (32.6 kHz) [ 49260.131] Backtrace: [ 49260.131] 0: /usr/bin/X (xorg_backtrace+0x26) [0x7f96c3ba2876] [ 49260.131] 1: /usr/bin/X (0x7f96c3a1a000+0x18c71a) [0x7f96c3ba671a] [ 49260.131] 2: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpthread.so.0 (0x7f96c2d4+0xfcb0) [0x7f96c2d4fcb0] [ 49260.131] 3: /usr/bin/X (miResolveColor+0x3) [0x7f96c3b7fda3] [ 49260.131] 4: /usr/bin/X (FakeAllocColor+0x62) [0x7f96c3a5ab72] [ 49260.131] 5: /usr/bin/X (0x7f96c3a1a000+0x1779d8) [0x7f96c3b919d8] [ 49260.131] 6: /usr/bin/X (0x7f96c3a1a000+0x1797c1) [0x7f96c3b937c1] [ 49260.131] 7: /usr/bin/X (miPointerUpdateSprite+0x29d) [0x7f96c3b8d93d] [ 49260.131] 8: /usr/bin/X (0x7f96c3a1a000+0x173c2d) [0x7f96c3b8dc2d] [ 49260.131] 9: /usr/bin/X (0x7f96c3a1a000+0xdb9f9) [0x7f96c3af59f9] [ 49260.131] 10: /usr/bin/X (0x7f96c3a1a000+0x1119ca) [0x7f96c3b2b9ca] [ 49260.131] 11: /usr/bin/X (0x7f96c3a1a000+0x560a9) [0x7f96c3a700a9] [ 49260.131] 12: /usr/bin/X (0x7f96c3a1a000+0x5e7a7) [0x7f96c3a787a7] [ 49260.131] 13: /usr/bin/X (0x7f96c3a1a000+0x58000) [0x7f96c3a72000] [ 49260.131] 14: /usr/bin/X (0x7f96c3a1a000+0x126caa) [0x7f96c3b40caa] [ 49260.132] 15: /usr/bin/X (0x7f96c3a1a000+0x4e8a1) [0x7f96c3a688a1] [ 49260.132] 16: /usr/bin/X (0x7f96c3a1a000+0x3d7ba) [0x7f96c3a577ba] [ 49260.132] 17: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (__libc_start_main+0xed) [0x7f96c1bd176d] [ 49260.132] 18: /usr/bin/X (0x7f96c3a1a000+0x3daad) [0x7f96c3a57aad] [ 49260.132] Segmentation fault at address 0x7f86c55810e6 [ 49260.132] Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault). If network signal is weak, this can happen automatically as NM loses the network then finds it again, asking for authentication. This can result in tens of windows after a few hours, if unsupervised. To test manually: 1. Select a wireless network for which no password has been saved from nm-applet. 2. The dialog pops up. 3. Without closing the dialog, reselect the network from nm-applet. 4. A second (identical) dialog pops up. (Expected: The old dialog is reused, or is closed as stale.) [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1101182] [NEW] Shared Connection gets 10.42.0.X IP addresses even if those are taken
Public bug reported: When you choose Shared to other computers in network-manager to create a network, the IP addresses are always 10.42.0.X. This is bad enough, but it doesn't check if those addresses are already in use on another interface, blowing up both networks and messing up routes. Set the following values in frame_geometry_normal as desired: distance name=left_width value=3/ distance name=right_width value=3/ distance name=bottom_height value=3/ Binary package hint: metacity - The issue has been an issue for users (especially of large) screens for several releases- Trackpad users seem to be particularly impacted by this- The issue appears to have been significantly aggravated in Lucid by changing the border width from 3 pixels to 1 pixel The window borders in metacity are far too thin to be used for comfortable window resizing, and resize handles are not available in all applications (or even most). In fact, of all the windows I have open right now, not a single one of them has a resize handle. The result is that I get a lot of misses when I try to drag a window border, which usually results in my clicking on the wrong window altogether. The best fix for this usability bug is to create an invisible region around each non-maximized window about 4px thick that can be used for resizing (in addition to the visible border). Or perhaps there should be a border thickness option on the System Preferences Windows dialog (although the default thickness should still be increased considerably). Ideally all windows would also have a resize handle but I realize that these have to be application controlled (at least that seems to be the position of the metacity team).
