[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1901568] Re: [20.10 Regression] camera doesn't work in hangouts
I don't see anything related to snapd in the attached logs, the camera plug is connected and there are no denials related to camera access in the dmesg.txt (the other apparmor denials seem unrelated to camera interface). I'm closing this in snapd; please re-open if needed. ** Changed in: snapd Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to chromium-browser in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1901568 Title: [20.10 Regression] camera doesn't work in hangouts Status in snapd: Invalid Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: seen after updating to 20.10, the camera on a Lenovo X1e doesn't work anymore, but only shows green garbage on the connect screen. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1876083] Re: chromium snap from focal fails DNS lookups, or delays them (ipv6)
It seems to be ipv6-related but I'm not using ipv6 so couldn't verify. FWTW I played with chromium snap on focal with ipv4 and couldn't spot any DNS lookup slowness, it was super fast. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1798450] Re: [snap] File dialogs show snap's home directory instead of user's
I don't think we want (or can) change HOME in snapd (due to undesired consequences and breaking many snaps), it works as designed, i.e. gives snaps dedicated areas where they can freely write data to, including hidden files; access to real user $HOME may not even be allowed unless home interface is connected. I see an alternative approach that only affects file picker is already discussed in the snapcraft-desktop- helpers issue above, for now marking it invalid for snapd. ** No longer affects: snapd -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1798450 Title: [snap] File dialogs show snap's home directory instead of user's Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: How to reproduce: - Find a web page that has a file chooser (you can just paste `` into an empty HTML page) - Click the "Choose File" button - Click "Home" if you didn't start here - See that Chromium uses `/home/$USER/snap/chromium/500` as the home folder Expected behavior: The file picker should use the user's home folder, not the snap's, because everything else would be confusing for end users. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1767445] Re: Uninstalled snaps show most recent channel version, not version to be installed by default
I've check this with Chipaca, there is no plan to change anything in snapd wrt this bug on the following basis: (a) user can look at the channel map to know what's in stable, and (b) store can change what's returned outside the channel map, which snapd will forward on. ** Changed in: snapd Status: New => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1767445 Title: Uninstalled snaps show most recent channel version, not version to be installed by default Status in snapd: Won't Fix Status in Snap Store: New Status in gnome-software package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in gnome-software source package in Xenial: Fix Released Status in gnome-software source package in Bionic: Fix Released Status in gnome-software source package in Cosmic: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] GNOME Software can show incorrect version of snap that will be installed on details page. [Test Case] 1. Open GNOME Software. Ensure blender or spotify snap is not installed. 2. Select blender or spotify snap (tried 28-04-2018, may change if store versions are changed) Expected result: Version label shows version to be installed (stable channel by default) Observed result: Version label shows most recently uploaded version, i.e. from the edge channel. This is not the version that will be installed when clicking install. [Regression Potential] The logic around choosing which version value to show was changed. Could create other bugs with this data. Orignial text: Ubuntu Software, when showing metadata about a snap package, is most of the time, likely to get information which is misleading, since it shows info from the *most recently* uploaded snap, regardless of which channel the snap was uploaded to. An example of this is to search for blender, and see that the version shows the edge channel - 2.80-4de142e0b7b and not the stable channel - 2.79. After actually installing the application, the correct metadata is shown. See https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/unexpected-revision-information- exposed-in-some-situations/5163 for more details.
