Title:
super key works in shortcuts but does not show activities overview

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Super key works in normal keyboard shortcuts but not by itself
whenever the input method is not the first one in the priority list.
When testing keys with the keyboard layout on screen all keys are
registered but the super key that is configured to display the
  activities overview.

When the left Super is configured to show the activities overview, the
left Super key is ignored. If the right Super is assigned to that
function (via gnome-tweaks) then the left one will be registered but
  the right one will not.

Language does not matter. I tried having the keyboard in pt-pt then
en-us, they both exhibit the issue according to where in the priority
I order them. Input 1 always works and the others do not.

Issue started with update to gnome-shell 3.36.1 (via 20.04 LTS
  update).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1871913] Re: super key does not work with secondary keyboard layout

2020-04-24 Thread Pedro Teixeira
I also tried different configs in gnome-tweaks for the Alt/Win key
behavior (under Additional Layout Options) but it did not seem to make
any difference.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1871913] Re: super key does not work with secondary keyboard layout

2020-04-24 Thread Pedro Teixeira
I am facing the same problem.
Can confirm that only input 1 works regardless of language. And that keyboard
shortcuts with Super work regardless.

Here is my extra 2 cents:

When I go into 'Show keyboard layout' to see which keypresses are registered,
the left super key is not registered but the right one is.

One more thing: if I change the activities overview to be triggered by the
right super key instead of left (via gnome-tweaks), then the left super key
will be registered but the right super key will not.
