[Desktop-packages] [Bug 48671] Re: Cannot rename by clicking on a file
I agree that most times GNOME/Unity devs cut too much of the settings out , but in this case I don't think this is something important enough that it should go into the settings (it's out of the question for defaults - despite the fact that most people working with windows have gotten used to renaming this way - it's slow and you get into it by accident . It's just not that good from the get go ) Just get used to using F2 for renaming , because this is not really a Windows-Linux adaptation issue that someone is going to seriosly look into. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/48671 Title: Cannot rename by clicking on a file Status in One Hundred Paper Cuts: Confirmed Status in Nautilus: Confirmed Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: In Windows explorer, clicking a file and then clicking once more on the file name will enter rename file mode. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 917767] Re: New control features are not automatically added to system settings
Than you for your answers . I did some more searching (as to where to address my vision of why it is so wrong to have things that way) , and found out that you are one of the developers . So I'm thinking of how to emphasize it more , but I'll just say it - it's important to have a more flexible system (as a grid of icons launching standalone apps) , because the linux environment is user developed , and special integration into capplets , or whichever other complications you may introduce , Will mean that some applications will never appear in the system menu , and others will take their time . I know that having a unified design is important , but I'm pretty sure it's one step under functionality . One can have unified design for standalone apps - no problem ,therefore I don't see why the System settings menu had to get locked . I know it's not the biggest problem in the universe ,but it's the first time I stumble upon a regression in development for ubuntu , and I didn't think that happens much in the linux world . That's why I'm keen to see if one (I in this case) can make a difference for the better in the development . -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/917767 Title: New control features are not automatically added to system settings Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: In Oneiric the new version of the control center doesn't automatically add for example the Nvidia control center or CCSM , as it used to in Natty . [Desktop-packages] [Bug 917767] Re: New control features are not automatically added to system settings
Well CCSM and Nvidia control panel , and a bunch of other applications aren't at all random , but external control centers to system components . And yes - the menu is not locked ,but the integration with it is needlessly complicated . What more than a .desktop is needed in order to integrate into the menu when there just needs to be an icon . Yes , it would be great to have all the options of Nvidia fully integrated into the corresponding menus , but that's just not going to happen . People are writing standalone apps for linux and not integrations to specific distros . Is there a mailing list or some channel like that discussing the development of the gnome-control-panel ? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/917767 Title: New control features are not automatically added to system settings Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: In Oneiric the new version of the control center doesn't automatically add for example the Nvidia control center or CCSM , as it used to in Natty .
