[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1908469] Re: Cannot install .deb packages opened from Firefox
In my case, it could be because "Ubuntu Software" is really "snap-store" and for some reason, it can't install it from that directory. Could be that the problem is on snap-store and not in Firefox? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1908469 Title: Cannot install .deb packages opened from Firefox Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Suppose in Firefox you click a link to a .deb package. A dialog named "Opening [filename].deb" opens. If you select "Open with", then the .deb file is downloaded, placed in /tmp/mozilla_[username]0/ directory, then Software Install (as named in the Firefox dialog) is started on that .deb file. Next, Software Install loads and fails with "Failed to install file: not supported". If on the other hand, in Firefox's "Opening [filename].deb" dialog, if I select "Save File" instead, the .deb file ends up in the user's Downloads directory. Software Install works fine with the package there. I don't want to get too much into solutioning or "why". The main point of this bug is that I should not get a weird error just because I selected "Open with" instead of "Save File". This happens with a vanilla install of Ubuntu, with nothing else installed, so the product isn't working in an intuitive way. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1768074] Re: Mouseover does not show folder names reliably
The report is now also in gitlab on https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/baobab/-/issues/14 ** Bug watch added: gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/baobab/-/issues #14 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/baobab/-/issues/14 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to baobab in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1768074 Title: Mouseover does not show folder names reliably Status in baobab: Confirmed Status in baobab package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When holding my cursor still over a folder in the visualization (in either mode) I expect the name and size of the folder to appear in a floating box, as well as the names the folders contained in it. In my brand new install of Ubuntu 18.04, however, this does not happen most of the time. When holding my cursor over a folder, it «lights up» as usual, but after a second or two, it gets darker again, and nothing appears. However, it sometimes does work for certain folders. Based on a small amount of testing, those folders seem to be close to 8 or 9 o'clock when using the pie chart mode, and mostly only folders at the bottom of the hierarchy. I can then move the cursor within the visualization and see the names of all the folders as usual. But if the cursor is outside any folder for some small amount of time, I have to «activate» it again by holding the cursor over a working folder again. The behavior is quite strange and unpredictable, and I have no idea what is causing it or what to do about it. But I thought I would report it here as it makes it very difficult for me to use this application. I am happy to answer any questions. It loads normally, but when I choose Add Folder, the Select Destination window opens, but I can't do anything in it. Neither choose folders, change discs in the left tree, or even cancel the operation. The Close icon in the upper right corner doesn't work either. Only way to get out of it is via Kill Process in System Monitor The first times, I could open one file with Add File, but now that doesn't work either. My hard drives are healthy, and I have no problems in other applications.
