[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1574347] Re: [SRU]network-manager

2016-05-13 Thread Pinghao Qi
@Cip Man The issue where after disabling and reenabling wifi makes all
wifi APs disappear. Mine also does the same when resuming from suspend.
After upgrading, both cases above works fine.

Title:
  [SRU]network-manager

Status in NetworkManager:
  Fix Released
Status in OEM Priority Project:
  New
Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in network-manager source package in Xenial:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
  [Impact]
NM needs to re-read the DEVTYPE after the device name changed, an example is
that WiFi network list disappears from network manager applet

  Steps to reproduce: -

  1. Connect to a WiFi AP.
  2. Switch off the AP OR switch off the wifi in the computer.
  3. Switch point (2) back on.
  4. The network will get connected to the AP it was connected to in point (1).

  Problems:-

  1. The network manager applet does not show the list of WiFI APs it can find.
  2. The network manager applet does not the name of the AP to which it is
connected
  3. The icon of the applet shows two vertical arrows in opposite direction -
the wired connection symbol and NOT the wifi connected icon.

  Temporary Workaround:-
Log out and again log back in.

  [Testcase]

After upgrading to the new version, the repeating the above steps
  should give expected behavior.

  [Regression Potential]
Potential of causing regression is relatively small for a one line change to
re-read a value to be known.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1574347] Re: [SRU]network-manager

2016-05-12 Thread Pinghao Qi
I'm running the newest versions in stable, just upgraded the applet yesterday:
network-manager 1.1.93-0ubuntu4
network-manager-gnome 1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04.1
For me, the issue is already fixed somehow, without needing to update to
proposed.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1571140] [NEW] nm-applet doesn't show any wifi connections after Enabling/Disabling Wifi

2016-04-15 Thread Pinghao Qi
Public bug reported:

I'm running the latest version of 16.04 with the latest applet version
1.1.93. I'm using a Thinkpad P50 laptop. On my system, the network
applet works fine when the system is newly booted, then if I either
enable and disable the wifi, or suspend the laptop and log back in, the
icon in the status bar will change to the Ethernet connection icon, and
if I click on the applet, it will only show "Wifi Networks" under the
Ethernet rows. But if I open the actual Network Manager window,
everything looks fine, it sees all the wifi hotspots in range, and the
system is connected to wifi. Everything works fine except for the applet
not showing any wifi connections what so ever.

To be more specific, the first several rows I currently have in the menu
are:

Ethernet Network
disconnected
Wifi Networks
Connect to Hidden Wi-Fi Networks...

There's no way I can get it back to displaying properly again, without
doing a reboot.

** Affects: network-manager-applet (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
