using Unity and AMD proprietary drivers.

Bug description:
I get logged off from Ubuntu sometimes. There is no error message or
any indication that it is going to log off. The screen goes black, and
after 2-4 seconds, i get presented with the Ubuntu Log On Screen.

There is no clear pattern (or at least if have not noticed any). One
time i am working with Netbeans, another time i am using firefox. This
also means that at present i can not clearly say what package might be
  causing this behaviour.

I am fairly sure the problem lies in 12.04 (or more precise - the
combination of 12.04 and the hardware i am using). I do not have the
same problem running 11.04 or 11.10.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 478245] Re: Numlock keys + navigation keys not working

2014-04-01 Thread Reinis Ivanovs
Ubuntu 13.10
Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance K60
Unity DE

Pressing the numlock key doesn't toggle numlock, it just remains off.
xev(1) shows these events when pressing the key:

KeyPress event, serial 40, synthetic NO, window 0x421,
root 0xde, subw 0x0, time 10592959, (189,1204), root:(255,1257),
state 0x10, keycode 77 (keysym 0xff7f, Num_Lock), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False

KeyRelease event, serial 40, synthetic NO, window 0x421,
root 0xde, subw 0x0, time 10593053, (189,1204), root:(255,1257),
state 0x10, keycode 77 (keysym 0xff7f, Num_Lock), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False

I managed to work around it using numlockx(1), but it's not a good
solution for any non-technical users, and it doesn't allow me to toggle
numlock easily.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 843268] Re: gnome-control-center doesn't allow to specify proxy exceptions

2011-11-03 Thread Reinis Ivanovs
The proxy settings were working fine before, but the latest changes have
caused nothing but grief. First was the issue of just finding the new
proxy setting GUI, since searching for proxy from the launcher or in
System Settings doesn't work. Then I've had to manually set the proxy
settings for Apt. Pidgin and Empathy still don't work over a proxy for
me. Now it's this issue with having to jump through hoops just to set
exceptions. It's not even clear how are the changes supposed to be an
improvement instead of just a regression. Ubuntu should not accept ill-
considered changes from upstream. I won't be recommending Ubuntu to
anyone anymore, since it can't be trusted no to regress long-standing
and important functionality in recommended updates.
